Looking for help with Issue with 2016 ss
Hello,
This is my first post here. I own a 5th Gen and am a member on Camaro 5. I am actually looking for some help with an issue on my daughter's 2016 SS automatic. When you put the car in gear and depress the accelerator the is a long delay and then the car lurches forward. When pulling into traffic it is dangerous. I made an appointment to have the dealer look at it but was curious if anyone experienced this and has an idea what the issue is. thank you

I don't own an automatic, I have the 6 speed. Your at least doing the right thing by going to the dealership. There is a lot of talk on this forum about the automatic transmission in these cars. Problems vary from the torque converters to numerous fluid changes. Hopefully they get it all hashed out for you and at least you get it documented early. Welcome to the forum by the way

Thank you. It's almost like the engine is not responding to the gas pedal position. I will see what happens on Monday after I take it to the dealer

Welcome to the forum, is this a car you just purchased or have you had it a while and if so did it just started doing this or did it start getting worse is the biggest question I have. These cars do a small dead spot in the first part of the pedal and then they tend to over react but after you drive it a while it kind of becomes second nature and you don't notice it. If this is your problem try using the different modes like track and see if it is less noticeable, if so it's probably normal but if not it could be a different problem you should see the dealer about. If you find out it's normal you can greatly improve the delay by putting a ported throttle body on, these car seem to really like smooth air flow and the stock tb has a lot to be desired. I hope this helps!

thanks. No she has the car for at least a year and a half. The issue just started. The best way I can describe it is that the engine an gas pedal are not talking to each other. I believe the gas pedal is computer controlled. My daughter said when she pulled out into traffic she hits the gas and the car sits there then lurches forward...not sure what it could be

This happened to me but on a Dodge, turned out it was the TPS going bad.

Steve, I have just started experiencing the exact issue you have described on my '16 SS Automatic last summer. I am going to change the Differential oil once it gets warm out again. Then I may take it in.
But other than that info, I have not much else. Last edited by DeliveryMan; 01-12-2018 at 07:26 AM. Reason: more info |

Check the air Filter? I did not have any of the issues of the “dead spot”. I also had a CAI I installed...

I would have to agree with Busted43 about the throttle body being possible bad but usually if it's bad it should put the car in limp mode which gives you minimum throttle the get it to a dealer or off the road. I would also check and see if it just started after you got fuel because it's possible that it might have water in the fuel tank and that could cause it to stumble and it probably wouldn't have a cel and would act fine through the rest of the rpm cycle. These cars are drive by wire and that does cause some delay or (dead spot) especially if your use to driving a car with a throttle cable. I hope this might helps or at least give you something to think about so you can be better prepared to explain the problem to the dealer.

Almost sounds like it’s low on transmission fluid.
I had a Cherokee that used to do what you’re describing when it start d to get low on transmission fluid. That was when I knew it was time to add more. Although that vehicle was 8 years old and had 240k miles on it. I wouldn’t think yours should be leaking now. That would be pretty obvious if it was. Best of luck on figuring it out.
