Dont sell it, enjoy it for what it is , the GREATEST performance bargain out there!! Great looking car that hauls ass handles unbelievable well , forgiving to drive. Yeah the cocktail party group will talk horsepower at the parties but people who know realize this IS a badazz trackcar. After the event , got in the car drove home not a squeak or a creak, absolutely fantastic!! Ive been doing this a LONG time, believe me when I tell you, work on you driving skills because if you can get close to driving one of these cars near its limits you will be waxing just about anything out there at a fraction of the cost. I absolutely LOVE this car. It is extremely capable. That is value!!!
+1 Best value out there.

The additional benefit is that people who pay P car prices are not willing or able to drive their cars like we can drive a ~$43k car.

For the reference, I used NADAguide.com to get an idea of used car values as KBB.com didn't allow me to select 1LE Performance Package (and some dealerships and Carmax tried to play dumb and offered me a trade in offer for a Base SS).

Here's what it gives me now when I plug in the numbers (6700 miles, 1LE package ..etc). It was slightly better/higher a few weeks ago when I used it as a reference. I would personally never accept anything less than $31-32k as trade in unless it's a high mileage car.

+1 using the NADA seems to be the most accurate from my experience.

The main thing a dealer uses that wants put a $ number on the car , is what the auction prices are for the last two or three Mannheim class auctions that are in the region, and your specific car. Dealers really don’t use books anymore, Because this online recent hard data in at their desk. it’s all online auction data now.

That is unfortunately correct but it really doesn't help sellers with SS 1LE package since Mannheim's estimators or post sale data only use trim levels for pricing (doesn't display package level information) which hinders the SS 1LE's additional $7k cost (or almost 20% of the car's value). I think it's a good idea to try to sell it privately first if someone doesn't want their 1LEs to be priced as base 1SS because of the above reason :/

I'm seeing this stuff with $ numbers for your trade in 1LE.
Low miles etc.
No one is posting what model year their vehicle is....
Just saying.....
Model Year does matter.

I doubt there are many/if any used 2018's, so safe to assume they're 2017's.

$28.5k trade-in for my pristine 3750 miles 1LE and $69k for the black ZL1 1LE. While the price of ZL1 1LE is pretty good, I was surprised by the trade-in. I figured I would get $32k, the sales manager would treat me better since I bought a $45k car from him 6 months ago..."met my sales numbers for the year already". Oh well!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you think you are getting beat up on the trade/used price of your present 1LE, just wait until you purchase the ZL1-1LE should you decide to sell it in the near future.

IMO sell your present 1LE outright and sit on the equity until some used ZL1-1LEs hit the market. Don't make the same mistake twice. The ZL1-1LE is a focused vehicle much like the Z28 was, look what happened to them in regards to value.

Yup, thought you said "...find new at that price..."

I stand corrected. ;-)

It's almost an identical progression my 2013 1LE saw. Paid $41K, sold private for $33K around 2 years later.

By summer, I think we will see prices move more consistently towards that mark for '17's and so on.

Rumor is that the S650 mustang will be cancelled. If true, wonder if Camaro is next? Hopefully this isn't the second death of the muscle cars.

If anything, it will only serve to extend the life of the S550. Ford sells WAY too many Mustangs to just stop selling them.
