All I know is, if the Ranger Raptor comes stateside with a powerful EcoBoost, its going to leave lots of GM fans longing for a more powerful Colorado competitor. The ZR2 is awesome as is in my opinion, but dang if GM was to bring a power sport Colorado to the market, it will tempt me. Lol.
Could be a deal like what GM did with SLP or Ford with Shelby, where its a new-car conversion sold through the dealer network.

As for the Ranger getting a powerful EcoBoast? Well, its almost a guarantee that it will get an EcoBoast. It is a Ford afterall. But a powerful EcoBoast? As in 'Oh My God! I can't believe how much power this truck has!' powerful? I doubt it. I think that would require at least the 3.0L to be enough of a jump to make much difference. The 2.3L would be an approximate match to the 3.6 already in the Colorado while the 2.7 would have a bit more oomph, but still be close enough to not be a game changer.

I wouldn't say they're conservative with their performance vehicles. They just don't put their time, money, and effort into engines and instead make things like the ZL1 1LE, which can out handle a GT350 while outrunning a Hellcat. Nothing conservative about that, IMO.

The F-150 Raptor sharing its mill with Navigator sets a nice precident for something like Ranger Raptor utilizing the LMC 3.0L GTDI.
