Yeah that is my concern. No one needs to know how spirited my driving is.

Pulling the fuse will work. The reason we are removing the board is to retain Bluetooth. When you pull the fuse you lose Bluetooth as well.

Don't guess with the antenna. If on the remote chance removing the antenna load doesn't ramp up the amplifier current in the radio you won't know that unless you had the schematics. Just remove the board.

I'm thinking ill just pull the fuse and see if i can live without bluetooth. If not ill do the full removal. Thanks! Mostly just don't want them getting my data for free.

this seems like a huge waste of time. What are you gaining for doing all this?

Cars have become rolling communications dataports. If you're good with that more power to ya. I'm not.

There, I fixed it for ya. I totally agree that people do not realize how much data is collected THEN DISSEMINATED OUTSIDE OF GM.

I agree entirely with the above. Not a fan.

where does the bluetooth come in at? i would rather pull the fuse so that the mirror lights dont come on but if i could run a jumper wire somewhere for bluetooth that would be ideal

You do not lose bluetooth when you pull the fuse. You only lose the mic input.

You remove the transponder to retain the mic while losing the ability for onstar to connect to it's network.

I agree with most of the sentiments here, I do however like the PDR with GPS tracking/ lap timer. I assume if I follow this procedure then this feature will be disabled?

Indeed. You are disconnecting the antenna by removing the module.

You can disconnect just the radio antenna but I'm not sure how well the gps will work without being assisted by the cell radio connection. And disconnecting just the antenna could damage the transmitter hardware and may still allow a connection.

If you don't need to use the mic, you can go with the fuse method.

The only reason most people use bluetooth is for hands free cell phone calls, and for voice operation of their cell phone. So for all intents and purposes when you lose the mic you lose bluetooth.
