65,000 miles too late for a catch can?
Is it too late to install a catch can onto an LS? My car has a little over 65k miles on it and I was thinking of adding a catch can but not sure if it's worth it now or if it's a case of better late than never?

Better late than never. Btw, I recommend an elite catch can. You'll have it soon as opposed to the massive wait for the rx one

Thanks man I appreciate it. I am planning to Seafoam my vaccum line and probably start using Techron in my gas so I thought a catch can will also be a wise decision.

Better late than never bud.
If you don't mind please post some impressions on how the car feels after the sea foam treatment |

As a new Camaro owner, I haven't had the opportunity to use it on a Camaro. I have used Sea Foam many times on other vehicles, especially the 3.8L jeep engine, and it worked as advertised. I wouldn't hesitate to use it on any vehicle.

Never too late
[QUOTE=bigwayne3000;6858010]Is it too late to install a catch can onto an LS? My car has a little over 65k miles on it and I was thinking of adding a catch can but not sure if it's worth it now or if it's a case of better late than never?[/QUOTE
My LS has 104,000 mi and has never had a catch can. I installed (and later re-installed) "Black Ice". While doing this I used brake cleaner to de-oil the intake manifold and also looked at my intake valves. Yes, there is definite black buildup on each of them. Some more than others. I'll put on a catch can when I get around to it. Until then I'll Seafoam the intake before each oil change by bleeding it in through the PCV valve inlet. Damn that stuff smoked up the garage! Next time it will be outside. Bonus though was that the exhaust leak at the exhaust manifold was pinpointed by the wisp of white smoke rising from the driver side manifold heat shield. The dealer was kind enough to fix it for me at a nice discount. The service writer likes me, saying that there is never any doubt what my car needs.

I second that. Ordered a RX can in mid may, just got it this past Friday. And I've seen better paint jobs on model cars built by 10 year olds.

Just installed my Elite can last week. Got it in 3 days, and it took all of 10 minutes to install witht eh included brakets. Even came with extra o rings for the can, and Pcv fittings in case you damage them.
I will say the instructions online were a little short, and they show the mount being installed between the engine cover pin and the braket. I mounted mine under the pin bracket where teh nut spins on so it would sit lower and not rub my cover.

Not to sound noob or anything...well this is a hardcore noob question...but what exactly is a catch can and what does it do? I have a 2011 1LT with 38000 miles on it. What does this mod do for me?

It basically acts as a barrier to stop oil from traveling from your pcv on your valve cover, into your intake where it can sludge up your valves. The oil gets trapped, or "caught", in the can.
