Finally weighed my SS

Seems like its right in line with all others at 3740 with 3/4 tank of fuel. I weighed my 15 ss with about the same amount on the same scales and it was 3990. Both have Auto trans, so with a 1/4 tank like you'd want at the track would be about 3680 or so which is a good fighting weight for these cars. No weight has been removed as it still have stock wheels and tires. I'm editing this because I forgot to mention I had my golf clubs in the trunk. Probably at least 20-25 lbs lower then I stated above, so around 3715-3720 which is in the realm of others who weighed their cars.

I'm gonna go to a near by truck stop scale and get mine wighed, I'm curious on what the weight for my 2ss m6 with the NPP switched to borla's and a full tank of gas compares to yours.
would you be able to get the wight with a full tank to get a more accurate comparison?

Thanks for the info
Now I'm wondering how much weight savings the 1SS gives you vs 2SS? Same question for A8 vs M6.

Sounds a bit heavier than expected.. That auto must add a good amount over manual transmission..

I thought the auto cars were only 3,690-3,700 lbs?

I think BMR weighed their loaded 2SS auto at 3,720lbs or something like that.

Yep same here.. without MRC, moon roof.. don't think the 1SS is that much less than the 2SS.

I have read that the base 1SS manual is the lightest...

So that's what...3,760lbs with a full tank of fuel?

Keep in mind folks before we start rampant speculation that scales rely on being properly calibrated before being used, and can malfunction.

When was your car produced?

I saw your post and wanted to compare.

I weighed my 2015 2SS/RS/1LE with z28 wheels and 305/35's all around.
It had a 1/4 tank of gas.

3800 lbs

I thought there was a much higher difference in weight in these two platforms.

Great...now I should know what my 1SS weighs since its exactly the same, although it does seem 20 - 30 lbs heavier than I'd expect compared to some of the other posts on this forum.

Still no big deal.

You did read the part where he said his 5th gen weighed nearly two tons right? His 6th gen with a 1/4 tank would have been a bit under 3,700 lbs, and I very much suspect your car with just the mods listed above weights only 3,800 pounds. Maybe the scales said that...but come on...3,800 pounds exactly? Sure that scale isn't doing some rounding? Even a base 5th gen 1SS was listed on the Chevy website at over 3,900 lbs.

If he used a scale at a truck stop, it is certified and guaranteed accurate.
The question is where did he weigh it?

CAT scales are certified and guaranteed accurate.
I believe they have a 20lb resolution so you are looking at 3820 if so.

My documentation from Chevy says 3840 lbs I believe. I'll check when I get home

I thought the official weight of the 2013 1LE 1SS was 3,880 pounds, so if you pulled some if any extra weight off with those wheels, I can see it being lower...although those wheels/tires being wider, I can see it not losing any weight. Take another 70 or 80+ lbs of fuel out due to having 1/4 tank as you said and yeah, I can see it being close to 3,800, so I may have jumped the gun a little in my earlier comment.

Take a 6th gen 2SS at max weight of somewhere around 3,760lbs. Pull out 3/4 tank of gas and you are deep into the 3,600 range. I'd say 3,650 to 3,675. Comparing equal base SS, is over 200 lost.

So 5th gen 2SS 1LE to 6th gen 2SS may not be over 200 pounds lost, or maybe it is, but we have definitely seen time and time again of near or over 200 pound weight loss with these 6th gens.
