There's one feature that would be easy for GM to add to the Camaro's refresh: the Bolt's video rearview mirror. Its wide view would go along way to limit rear visibility complaints.

Scroll to 1:15

(Yes, I confess I'm torn between the Bolt and the Camaro. Getting the HOV stickers here in California opens up eight more hours of highway access, and the Bolt is a great electric; but across the showroom sits a Camaro, and it is far better equipped. I may be nomadic for a year, and using public charging stations would be more expensive than gas, so ... that brings me back to Camaros.)

Some interesting tidbits is that he worked on the Chevy SSR (bleh) but also was heavily involved in the 5th gen Camaro. It sounds like he didn't work on the 6th gen, but he did work on its sister concept car, the Buick Avista, which a lot of people on these forums think looked much better than the 6th gen Camaro despite them being on the same platform and mainly the same car.

So this sounds very promising. Doubt he will have any influence in the 2019 refresh, as that's probably set in stone mostly by now. But yeah, we might get a nicer looking 7th gen that also finally departs more confidently from the styling of the 5th gen.
This desperately needs to happen.

While I very much love the look of my 6th gen. Still think its a better looking car overall than the Mustang.

But there is no doubt the 7th gen should go for a bigger change when it comes around. Still needs to have that Camaro profile, but hopefully a larger depart from the 5th gen.

From '97 to '98 the LT1 was replaced with the LS1. Rated HP increased from 285 to 305. Come to think of it '95 to '96 LT1 was increased from 275 to 285HP.

The LS1 was bumped from 305 to 310 in 2001 with a cam change. It has been done.

Now the real HP was probably much higher. My '98 LS1 dynode 301HP at 3,700 miles.

The Camaro changed from the LT1 to LS1 because the C5 showed up the year before. There won't be any engine changes for the refresh.

Actually My 99 Vette had 350 HP from the factory. It was the LS1. They switched from the LT! to the LS1 when they switched to the C5 on 1997.

All of the information that I provided was in reference to the F-Body cars. While the LS1 Vette was rated at 350HP, the F-Body cars tended to dyno 20 to 35 HP more on a regular basis. Live axle rear-end was more efficient than the IRS in getting power down on a dyno.

Same is true today where the Camaro dynos 5-15HP more than a Corvette on a fairly regular basis.

In closing, there were horsepower bumps in 1996 with the LT1 and in 2001 with the LS1. Small bumps have been done. I expect the same due to the Mustang's bump in 2018 MY.

If they squared off the angled cut on the top of the bumper in the back, they probably are doing something similar in the front. I'd expect a slight change to the headlight enclosures, but grafting on a sloped nose would be incongruent. Hopefully the changes will be minimal. It's pretty rare for the refresh to look better than the original.

Nobody can understand why the dash ont he driver side needs to be so big. Its absolutely unecessary and pretty stupid imo. It hinders visibility and its unpleasing to look at. Hopefully the 2019 will address this

I'm sure they are just testing the facial or other minor adjustments.
I think the climate for sports cars has changed dramatically and consumers look at specs. The interior is already dated compared to the mustang. For chevy to compete i think they will need a power bump as well as a interior refresh to keep up. Now a days people just prefer mustangs & dodge cars over the camaro. I rarely see camaros but stangs and dodge's are a dime a dozen
