I followed the break-in period, and now I wait until the tires are warmed up to have fun. All this performance with cold tires can easily lead to trouble.

These engines are broken in at the factory. IMO.

They run them on a machine at the end of the line, NOT a dyno, up to about 80 mph, to verify everything operates properly (they plug into the ECM and read all the operational numbers - NOT hp or tq)

They are NOT broken in. They don’t rev it high in any gear. The just ensure all the engine operation parameters work. Someone in a pit underneath sets the alignment and it’s all done in just a few minutes.

Until they reach the dealership where the new kid unloading the cars takes them for a quick test run at WOT after the burnout...

Lol!

That's why I ordered mine, and asked the dealer to call me before they prep it or even touch it when it came off the truck.

Then I insisted I drive it to the gas station for the first fill up.

Once you've watched Ferris Bueler's Day Off you don't trust ANYONE with the keys to your car if you have anything remotely cool.

I did the full break in procedure. Nice and easy for for 500, oil change, little more but still easy until 1,500 miles, then another oil change (and diff change). Oil change at 5k and every 5k from here on out.

I almost never keep cars long. Long for me will be 30k, but I'd rather know that I am handing it off to someone else properly taken care of. In the fluke that I keep it, well then I took care of it for me. I'm good with that too!

Sorry if I missed it. The owners manual calls for a diff. Change at 1500 miles?

If you have 1LE or ZL1 (e-diff), and track it you should yes.

I changed mine out and it was black, full of metal (a 1LE). Did a friends regular SS at 1,500 as well and it was also pretty nasty. I'd change it either way, but it's the e-diff that "needs" it.

Good info and easy to do --> http://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=480341

I have a 2SS. How do I know if it’s a E-Diff ?

I’ll have the dealership change it at 1500 miles
