This sounds like yet another stupid thing my car does. It's happened twice in my 18k miles. Both were very low speed incidences, <10mph. One was in the summer after about a 20 minute city drive. I actually heard the tires squeal. The other was just a couple weekends ago heading to my parents after a highway trip (quite cold, low teens). I was waiting for a couple people to cross a street so I was barely moving. When I went to accelerate, the car started to go and then it completely locked up. I was thrown forward in the seat enough to be quite startled. If someone was behind me, or if this was at a red light, I'm sure I would have been rear ended.
This is not a hesitation, which it also does on occasion. This is as if the car completely locked up. Taking it to a dealer is pointless since they won't fix anything without being able to reproduce it which, two times in 18k miles, is highly unlikely. This car would be gone but I can't handle the 50% depreciation in less than 18 months.
