Is it possible Chevy is waiting for...
Is it possible that Chevy is waiting to see what Ford and Dodge will be bringing to the table? There have been rumors of a twin turbo 700 plus hp GT500, and a Hellcat Barracuda that promises to be much lighter in weight than their current cars.
I fear that the next uber-camaro will be held back by it's big brother, the Vette. What will the general do it it's severely outgunned again?

There's no reason for them to wait. The Z** will have the LT4 and everyone knows what it makes. It's unlikely GM will upgrade the LT4 to exceed the Hellcat or the future GT500 engine.

Yep the next ZL1 or Z28 will have the LT4 and not more than 650hp. Just not gonna happen

I pretty much figured as much, but it goes to show just how spoiled we are. The current ZL makes 580hp in a much heavier platform, the new one promises to be significantly lighter. I'm hoping they don't pull the reins back too much to not offend the 'vette owners while in the meantime we're getting killed by the "other" pony cars.

The next HP Camaro will be the Z28/IROC car with a redesigned LS7 (solve the over heading issues and valve train issue).
It will be announced late next year...

Whatever GM decided to do for 2017 was decided well over a year ago.
Only tweaks are possible beyond a certain point. So if GM is waiting for Ford or Fiat to play their hand? It's at least a year to respond and that is if there is no hardware to be changed. A new engine? 4 years to put into production.

IMO, an LT4 in our new light-weight frame, with the new interior, keeping all the gadgets. Add PDR, some aero goodies, racing seats, and better tires/wheels. You've got a 58k car, that's better than the Hellcat or Mustang.

Z06 starts at 80k. I'm also going to say 60k to possibly 65 for ZL1. |

Just FYI...the crate price at Pace Performance for an LT1 is 8998, LT4 is 12879, difference of $3881...and I do not believe the LT4 is a hand built motor...Since the production costs are a lower, it seems entirely possible the Camaro HP with supporting mods (HD rears, halfshafts, clutch, etc)...could be right in line with the Hellcat....Thoughts?
