I am a fan of the retractable one. The one "paul44" shows above is the same as mine except I didn't opt for the remote retract feature as I am inherently cheap.

This is a cool idea, but illegal. They could still bust you for not having the plate properly fixed to the vehicle, though not likely. Law states that it needs to be fixed to the vehicle by non-temporary means.

I also have the non motorized version as well. I made a custom bracket so that I wouldn't have to drill the plate frame into the bumper either.

+1 for show 'n go manual one. Don't have one on the Camaro but do on my DD. 90% of the time it's in the hidden position. In 1.5 years I've not been stopped in the Camaro, but did in the first two months of my DD. I also got a warning.

Also, at least in Missouri, it's not a requirement that the front holder be on at delivery. Most (smart) dealers will keep it off if you ask for it.

I used the stock bracket but lowered it and used toggle bolts to attach it, cheap alternative to the $100 + aftermarket brackets

Here in Cash strapped Jersey you will get pulled over and ticketed daily for no front plate, also ding you for anything hanging from the rear view mirror (Air Freshners or Graduation Tassel) yup 54 dollar ticket...

Non motorized Show n Go here as well. I always hide it if I drive into Wisconsin so I can masquerade as a Michigan driver, as Troopers in WI find great sport in ticketing IL drivers. Generally, you don't have problems having no plate in the front in Illinois, unless you're doing something stupid. However, if you park at O'Hare, they have City of Chicago enforcement, and will write you a $60 ticket if you don't have the front plate.

Pics with a jacfab on my 1LE. I would not drill holes in the bumper.

Just do like a lot of people around here do. Stick it on the dash, so it's visible from the front of the car.

I had a friend make one for me that bolts to the 2 bolts that hold the front bumper on. Easy on/off and I can keep it in the trunk and just say "woops forgot to put it on after the last car show".

In my neck of the woods that can get you stopped faster than not having it.

I went with the eliminator bracket. I think it was way overpriced but cheaper than the ticket. The bracket came powder coated black and no one has noticed it until I point it out. I personally don't like how you can still see the plate hiding under the bumper with the retractable ones. Also, I was nervous about anything lower than what is up there already. Takes maybe 2 seconds to take off or put on
