OK, read post #11 in this thread.
Looks to me that guy was trying to sell his product instead of the 3m di noc and putting it down. The 3m di noc has been used thousands of times on all automotive finishes on the exterior and interior and still is. If it damaged anything dont you think people would quit selling it. Believe what you want but I have first hand experience using vinyl for wrapping purposes and am telling you it doesnt harm anything when removed unless whatever was wrapped had issues already. |

Op I think the carbon fiber wrap is a good look, but you might want to wait a bit. It is inevitable you will get some rock chip nicks on your hood if you drive a lot. Then when that annoys you, rewrap it. You could also rewrap it with a notch to put on the fender hashes like the Camaro prototype.

3M 1080 Wrap Series was designed for Automotive use. The Di-Noc was created for Household use originally and became so popular with Auto enthusiasts that 3M designed 1080 wrap series. If you are going to wrap your hood, use 3M 1080. We have sold hundreds of Vinyl kits here on this very forum with no issues using 3M 1080 in all our kits.
And as others have said, remove the old vinyl. Btw, $370.00 to remove and reinstall 3M 1080 is a good deal. |

sstg - whats your experience in terms of install times for a first timer. Factor in me having common sense
I dont think the hood would be that tough. but the spoiler may be more difficult.... |

BlownHottrodder, I understand what you are saying, I was just trying to warn the OP of potential pitfalls with the Di-noc. I know for you that nothing was damaged, but it can damage the paint. This is especially true if it is left on for too long. Here is a piece from a FAQ page of a company that sells di noc.
Can it be removed? DI-NOC architectural finishes may be removable, but it is also possible that it may damage the substrate underneath. DI-NOC should generally be considered a permanent application. If Primer94 is used (which we recommend for installation), it should not be expected to be removed without substrate damage since it’s an adhesion promoter. DI-NOC becomes more difficult to remove over time after application. 3M lists the following steps for removal tips: The following removal techniques can be tried, but the effort and results will vary.
(http://www.carbonfiberfilm.com/faq/) OP already chose 1080 which is the right choice, but I wanted to include this just so that you could see that there is really something to what I'm saying. Also, for future members who see the thread, they should know that there is a potential risk with the di noc, even if it does not always cause problems

The hood should take you about 2 hrs to remove and replace. The spoiler should be removed before wrapping and that will take about an hour. For our shop those time would be cut in half. 1080 is a pleasure to work with and is very forgiving. |

I think most all mods other than stock are distasteful (did i spell that correct). Rewrapping your hood with different wrap is wrong. I wonder what the dealer would charge for a rewrap....................never mind.

So if I put a 3m 1080 matte wrap and some zl1 replicas on a stock ss that would be distasteful? Seems like to me it would look like a 1le! Was changing my drl to match the halos distasteful? Is every car that's installed a heritage grille or zl1 like front bumper distasteful? Pretty vague statement you make. But to each there own. |
