IT HAPPENED--BLOWER HAS WENT SOUTH

Well tonight I put my new RotoFab CAI on and after everything was buttoned up I thought I would move it from the shop to the garage and damn, sounds like marbles or ice grinding up under the hood. I stopped and raised the hood and it was really loud with it open. I drove it last week and I thought I was hearing something but it sure was not as loud as it was tonight. So I guess tomorrow I am calling the dealer and take it to them. I really hate to do that but I guess I am going to have to to get it fixed. I want to know from those who have had this problem, when they fix this have they got a fix for it or do they just replace the parts and it will only last so long again?

If it's on your 2013, they'll replace the supercharger.

I know they will replace it but that did not answer question. So when they replace it is the parts a permanent fix or will it happen again?

Drive coupler is changed so supposedly it will not wear and cause bearing problems. Blower warranty is also extended.

They were supposed to have a fix for it that is a better design. My 2012 had a new supercharger installed too.

Check out the bulletin issued by GM, follow this link for more information, it is under the tab - Car Details. Hope it all works out for you.

New lower SC manifold now has the solid isolator coupler so the 'marble' sound will be gone and that will fix the issue. How many miles do you have on your ZL1? You'll get a brand new lower manifold as the dealer does not replace the isolator.

Dealer will warranty it and you should get 120k miles to cover it.

They replaced my blower about 15,000 miles ago. Making the marble noise. I think GM has a deal with the mfg to send the whole thing back. That is why they give you a new one instead of replacing the isolator.

Ok I have a appointment to take it in monday morning. For those of you who have ask my car has 4300 miles on it. I had another Z I bought new and it has not had this problem because I know the guy who bought it and he would have told me if it had. So I guess this only happens to some and not all. I will post back here after they fix it. Now I have to worry about someone banging their door on it and putting a dent in it. O crap! I won't be able to sleep.

We put a solid isolator in that one when we built it.

I thought about that after I typed that in but I was going to look at the car the next time I saw it to see if that is what you did. I could not remember for sure. I have been thinking I need to have you do your magic on this car to andy but it will be in the late fall if I do. I will give you a call when I am ready.
