What's with all the automatic hate?
I recently purchased my dream car, a Black 2014 ZL1, and I decided to go the automatic route because my wife wouldn't let me get standard because she wants to drive it sometimes, haha.. But anyways, I see lots of people hate on the Automatic, and why is that? From what I can tell it is essentially the same performance, if anyone could tell me why people dislike the autos please leave a post!

I wish mine was auto sometimes. Only when I'm trying to drink my coffee and have to shift! I had to down size to medium cups because the tall cup gets in the way of shifting.

I wouldn't worry about it. Its just a $1185.00 option that doesn't come as a "standard" item. Besides, on a ZL1 its quicker.

I just think most people cant get off their high horse and their minds are too dull to comprehend that some people prefer auto. yes i drive a M6, yes my title says "real men use three pedals" do i give a hard to to people with autos? no. i welcome them because in the end we all share the same love and passion for cars and thats what matters to me. ill admit it also, a A6 will take the M6 off the line pretty much every damn time. i just like rowing gears while i drive, i just love it but its also not for everyone. I'm 27yrs old now but maybe in a few years my next sports car could very well be an auto.

Congratulations on the ZL1, awesome car in either auto or manual.
People that make fun of people that buy an automatic have things to learn in life. They have to learn that it does not matter the kind of car you drive, the number of cylinders it has or even if you have to shift your own gears. It's how you treat your fellow human. Only small people look down on others for petty things like that.

I'm 55 years old and drive a manual. I occasionally drive it in bumper to bumper traffic here in Los Angeles where we really have bad traffic due to the sheer number of vehicles. Do I wish I had an auto? Not really because I don't have to drive traffic everyday. Whatever works for the owner/s, if they want an auto then it's their choice.

I have owned several Daily Drivers that were automatics but always wished they were 5 or 6 speeds. Shifting gears is just something I enjoy doing - makes me feel more connected to the driving experience. That said I totally understand a lot of people prefer the convenience of an automatic and/or may choose an auto in the case of a Camaro and some other cars for drag racing purposes.
Car people will always have different likes and dislikes wheter it is auto vs manual, Chevy vs Ford vs Mopar, muscle car vx imports, cars vs trucks, and on and on.... gotta be something to disagree on and post about online |

For me my daily drivers are auto but my play toys are manuals. Looks like I will be replacing our SS for a ZL1 auto this year since it will be a daily driver.
