When it needs it, which in my case is rarely more than once per year on my garage queen. Frequent use of a lint roller gets 99%+ of the dust/etc. that land on it. After a good lint-rollering, really the only thing left to do is spot clean the pollen blobs and bird droppings.

When you do clean the top, I recommend using a lower concentration of soap:water in the wash solution than recommended, as rinsing soap out the fabric (even with the fabric guard) can take a LONG time. Avoid foam cannons on the top, as they tend to require higher soap concentrations to make the shaving cream style foam... which is not what you want on the fabric.

I put 303 Fabric Guard on it back in 2017. Getting to be about time for a refresh but still beads water in most places. Will do the same using the paint-roller technique.

With my Z3 I used a mild/for delicates clothing detergent.

I am not sure with the Coupe, but the Vert seems to have two water traps, on the rear deck lid on each side near the spoiler. If i forget to dry those areas, two triangle water stains appear there.

In New England I would wash / scrub it 1x a month in general May-Nov.

I would "seal" it yearly with something like this protectant or I've tried 303 Fabric Guard. I felt the Porsche branded product actually gave better water repelling properties than the 303 stuff. (Wife and I both have had several convertibles over the years). I tried the Porsche branded product on recommendation of the local German car repair shop that worked on our Audi's / 911S.
