Tires comparable to MPSS?
Any tires that are comparable to MPSS but not break the bank??? I would love to have those tires again, but damn they are crazy expensive.

Firestone Indy 500s. Stick Pirellis would spin the 3-4 shift... now, only the 1-2
And they are only $170 a piece.

First 50-100 miles is real sketchy - thought I made a mistake buying them, haha.
After you get the soap or whatever they coat it with you will love them. First day out after getting the soap off - 42 degrees. I was expecting them to be like hockey pucks like the Pirellis. Nothing like that. 1-2 shift spins a little. Held in the corners. Check my posts with "Alignment Specs" and I would highly suggest Firestone''s Lifetime alignment for $169.00. They will do it to these specs. End of the day - you will love the tires and want to do more to the car. Follow the suspension part of my sig and your car will have: 1) Zero wheel hop. 2) Zero slop in the rear end over bump and hard acceleration and corners. 3) Although bumps are more noticeable, the car still rides very smooth. 4) You will break 1.0g cornering - even with you still have stock Pirellis in the front 5) Car will return to straight out of corners much faster. 6) Greatly reduced trammeling - following ruts in the road. 7) When you replace parts that require an alignment - you will already have it paid for!!!! Hope this helps, Sammy

Thanks for the reply and info! I am gonna check these out! I have reviewed them on Tirerack and they do not seem like a bad tire at all.

It's hard to beat the MPSS. The Continental Extreme contact Sports are brand new and supposed to be an MPSS beater, and the Nitto NT555 G2s seem to be a good tire as well.

Don't get me wrong, the MPSS are great tires. I just cant afford the $1800 price tag for all four installed. 275 front and 315 rear. I don't even autocross the car and have separate radials for drag racing.

Forget the old MPSS, they are being replaced with the PS4. The new Continentals are supposed to be very close in performance.

Sorry missed the part about not breaking the bank. The closest tire I know of are the continental extreme contact sports that were already mentioned. Not sure what they cost though.

But, the largest tire they make is a 305/35X20. That's ~0.14" smaller radius than the 315/35 and 275/40s.

I noticed the same. A 305 instead of a 315 wouldn't be a big deal. I think I am going to try them and see how it goes.

So I went to order a set of Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 and the size 305/35/20 is on back order. To make matters worse supposedly they wont have another production run for something like 90 days!!! ugh....guess I need to find a different tire option.

I just checked Firestone's site and they show limited quantity avail in the 305.
