I could maybe see a hero run at 11.99 with all conditions perfect. I'm
Thinking the magazines will be 12.3 to 12.4

I'm thinking the magazines will do 12.5-12.6, average driver just under 13. Hero runs of 12.3-12.4.

Bolt ons and tires, I'm banking on 12 flat.

That is what a 5th gen 1LE does right now is it not?

The 1LE isn't half a second faster than a regular SS

Like I said, in the hands of a capable driver in perfect conditions. FWIW, my ZL1 ran 11.9s stock my first time at the track, in the summer. My best stock times are in my sig. I'm not backing down from my claim that the SS will go 11.s stock. I've seen stock ls2 vettes around here running mid to low 12s. We all know the ls3 is even faster. Like what was said already, the ZL1 doesn't match it's power output, it could be driver error, maybe it's because it doesn't hook easily. If I keep mine stock, I'm hoping to run 11.4s stock on drag radials in good conditions.

That's right, 12.9s for the magazines. Think I saw hero times in the 12.6s for M6 cars.

Funny to here common talk once again of times that few will ever run. That most will never even try. And people only need ONE guy to do and then they can say that their car can do it.

We'll most likely never know. I've called out guys on the stock list for 5th Gen. I know full well people will adjust their cars in one way or another and not tell anyone to be the 'Stock' hero.

Your car is only as fast as YOU can drive it.

Don't anyone get butthurt here, I'm speaking in general.

You're absolutely correct, but I'm not one of those guys. Every car I have ever owned has seen the track, and I don't discount times that are run in perfect conditions. Some call it hero runs, I call it taking advantage of conditions. Because a car is a whole second slower in Colorado doesn't mean that this is how all cars will run...

Folks seem to think that by just jumping into any car, especially an auto, it is easy to get good times. I have proven that this is not the case...many times.

It's easier to get consistent times with an auto over a manual with auto usually being slower. Only recently have things changed to make autos not only more consistent but faster at the strip.

No doubt about it. I've driven the same car, same mods, same tune on different tracks and for the life of me couldn't get times as fast. So many factors involved.

Funny some predicting the same performance with 30 more hp/tq, better curve, 200 lbs less weight and a new 8 speed auto. Seriously?

The 5th gen has gone 12.5-6 bone stock. The new mustang has gone 12.4.

The 6th gen SS A8 hero run will be knockin on 11's door if not dip in...I 100 percent guarantee it.

Anyone who disagrees just hasn't been around the block before. Its plain to see.

This topic has been beaten to death btw...

I'd be willing to bet I've had more seat time in multiple makes/models at the dragstrip than 98% of the people who post in this forum. I'm saying what we'll be seeing from magazines in stock trim will be an average of 12.4-12.5 in the quarter. No doubt there will be some who get more out of the car, but it will be the exception, not the norm. For every experienced hotshoe who get's the car into the low 12's, there will be twenty others who barely manage to get a pass in the high 12's.

And this is my ranges for high, mid and low 12's, just so we can level set the comparison.

12.9-12.6 High 12's
12.5-12.4. Mid 12's
12.0-12.3. Low 12's

I agree.

Im just talking hero run...I think she could have a high 11 in her. Mag times especially with the manual could be as bad as high 12's.Its the nature of a manual. Seen guys who can barely get a 12 out of a c6 zo6 lol.

I think the A8 should get around 12.5 in the mags for sure.

It will be around a half second quicker than everything the 5th gen ss has done mag and private owner in the 1/4. As long as they aren't too far off with the weights.

If an extra 30hp/35 tq, 200lbs less weight, superior torque curve and an 8 speed tranny doesn't equal at least a half second off of the 6 speed manual 5th gen hero run my mind will be blown. It will be against every bench racing rule as well as real world outcome I have ever seen over the past 15 years.
