A turbo 4 would be interesting, but only as a novelty (my own personal take on it). I don't see it being anything that would bring the price down to something "entry level", though.

I always like the old SVT Mustangs, but I think they were too far ahead of their time to be successful. Times have changed, and a turbo 4 could be an interesting option for some folks. For some of us, we still hold fast to "there's no replacement for displacement". I'm sure a modern turbo 4 cyl would be more fun to drive than the old 4cyl and 2.8L F-bodys.

Looks that way to me. Then you try to change what you said-- like it's not there?
It is. How many mainstream RWD V8 sedans are there right now?

There are probably more today than there were 10 years ago. But I agree they are probably a dying breed, relegated to low volume in the not too distant future.

But to be perfectly honest, neither of those are high volume cars either.

Your problem is you're so desperately clinging to the notion of a V8 that apparently you think anything less spells the end of the world and if anyone brings up an alternative, you view it as an attack on V8s as a whole. NOWHERE have I said that V8s are dying. In fact the Gen V V8s are probably among the best engines on the market right now in terms of power, technology, and FE.

And GM projections DO list SS as a low-volume niche car. That is not opinion, that is FACT.
</end argument>

Mainstream? CTS-V is not a volume car, or mainstream. Neither is the M3, IS-F, C63 AMG, XF, or Genesis. Most are all low-volume luxury cars, and no, the V8 models of each sedan are not "great sellers" in the grand sense of the term. The regular V6/I-4 variants, yes.

Plus that article's from 2009. G8 GXP isn't even in production anymore, in fact Pontiac as a whole is dead.

I personally vote for a V3 and a V7 Camaro.

I hope I never see a camaro with a 4-cylinder engine.
The American muscle cars are necessarily equipped with V8 engines or V6.
It would be a shame to lose this American specialty, even in the name of economy or ecology.

Are you sure you haven't seen one? They were produced between 1982 and 1984 and I saw one just a few years ago at a car show.

Not sure where you haven't seen one. They've definitely been made before. If they're economical and sell why wouldn't you want them to be around? I'm not saying they will sell or even exist in the near future but it's the same argument for the V6. If the V6 Camaro didn't exist you wouldn't be in your V8. They wouldn't sell nearly enough to justify keeping the Camaro around.

That being said, I would only buy a V8 Camaro. However I understand why people buy the other. Same goes for the morons who talk crap about people who drive automatics. Oh I'm less of a guy because I drive something different? Yea? My dick is really small. YOU GOT ME!

I've owned both manual and auto. Manual is fun for a while but it gets old in traffic. Especially when my sciatica flares up. :/

Yep. What people fail to realize is without the 4 and 6 cylinders of the world, their precious V8s will definitely cease to exist.

And just sayin', GM just cracked the 300 HP mark with the 2.0T with the Astra GTC Extreme.
