Compared to the Camaro package:

So, for $80 LESS, the Mustang gets better wheels/tires ($200 additional option on Camaro), new instrument panel, front springs, bracing, radiator, swaybar, and Torsen diff (already on Camaro).

Why does the Camaro package cost so much more, and include so much less?
You also need to know that the GT only has single piston rear brakes. That is a joke for a performance car.

The performance package makes the GT what it SHOULD be from the factory...and yet it still isn't enough to go toe-to-toe around a track with the stock SS Camaro. You don't NEED the six-pots on the SS to go around a track and put up faster times than the Mustang. But people want them, so they sell them.

By the way........does Ford's performance package add the necessary coolers to use any of that equipment, or is that an additional option, as well?

Bottom line is...Ford is really good at spinning the data to make things sound and appear more appealing than they really are. Do some research before you chase the carrot.
Nope, I don't think the GT with PP have diff and tranny coolers. Only the GT350 with track pack (Now standard due for 2017) have the diff/tranny coolers.

Base SS has everything, coolers, brembos, tires, etc..

I have driven a GT with PP and owned a 14.. The GT's brakes bite is better though. The SS will need a fluid change for better bite.

Also, isn't the Mustang heavier with a more front heavy weight distribution? I think one of the terms that I remember reading in one of the comparisons (the one where they tackled The Tail of the Dragon) was: "Plow and wallow through the corners."

Because you get the keep the set of 4 piston brakes, as well as the 6 pistons they put on the car. The GT performance package is an option on the car that gets installed at the factory. The price is the cost above the stock parts getting replaced.

Would fluid help? I'm not sure I follow.

I have found that a good burnishing dramatically improves initial bite on the 5th gens...I imagine it'd be the same on gen 6.

My friend Joe (used to work at Stillen) changed his fluid to AP racing r3 and it helped a lot with the initial brake bite.

They may not bite like big ceramic carbon upgrade would be but I would imagine it will be good improvement. Those are racing fluids so it will help on the course.

Burnishing? hmm.. may have to give that a try.. I know people have mainly used that technique to prevent brake fade.

I've swapped lines and fluid before, and never noticed a significant difference in brake feel. Fluid is fluid...It can however, made a significant difference in resisting overheating. Maybe there were itty bitty air bubbles in your system before the fluid was changed?

Burnishing? Damn - changes the entire world. And they wear a bit better, too.

If he really meant the "poverty part", he's def on the ignore list.

So a car with brembos all around, diff/engine/tranny coolers (Track ready), 3 radiators, 8" touchscreen, 245/275 GY Runflats, low 12 1/4 mile and 12 flat for autos, LT1 455/455, TR6060/A8 is now considered poverty? I can keep going on the list.

Wow.

Haha sorry, I really like the 1SS! On the VW forums we use the term "poverty spec" in reference to a base model. It's actually considered desirable; no sunroof, lighter weight, cloth seats, etc.

No I'm not gonna chill out, as a matter of fact I'm reporting WhyUMad1le to the moderators.

Hahaha

All good, I knew he didn't mean it. The SS base or not is a performance bargain and is a hell of a car.
