Best cam option?

So I've pretty much narrowed down my next mod to be the heads and cam package along with the DOD kit from TSP.

The only decision I'm stuck at is whether to go with their VVT-SV cam that specs at 223/227 with .635"/.635" lift and 116 LSA, or their VVT-1 cam that specs at 227/231 with .635/.635 lift 116 LSA.

I do plan on keeping my stock stall converter and I'm aware that is what TSP recommends the VVT-SV for, but is it possible for me to go with the VVT-1 and retain good drivability? Would I see better performance gains as far as horsepower and torque being that the VVT-1 is a slightly more aggresive cam profile? My car has the bolt ons necessary to compliment the cam and heads package at this point.

I just joined up with this forum and I appreciate any advice you guys can spare! Thanks!

Have you posed that question to TSP? Both cams look pretty mild and I would not think the VVT-1 would cause problems.

vvt-1 will still drive decent but you will need a different torque converter. That will add another 1200.00 to bill not including installation. The stage 1 219 to 223 range cams still work with the stock converter. I would contact pray about his stage 1 with his ported heads. That will put you around 550whp with great street manners.

Well.
The Duration and Lift are Advertised Numbers. Kinda "Generic" so people can pick a Cam by looking at numbers without getting confused.
Just like calling them stage 1, Stage 2 etc. Just terms used to market Camshafts.

What makes the Cams work are the fancy numbers on the Cam Card. Such as Valve events. My Cam is 223/228 @ 114 LSA .604 lift. And it shakes the car and rumbles.
My Cam opens the valves early. I get great Torque though. Spin the tires starting in 2nd gear.

.635 Lift?? Why? Too much.

Car sounds dope man!

Thanks for the info, yeah I’ve been aware that the advertised numbers are mostly a selling point to consumers.

I just wanted to get opinions on what cam between the two I mentioned in my original post would give me the best results horse and torque wise across the band while still maintaining street drivability

I am not an expert on cam and valve events but as a long time watcher of what Pray
Has developed. I will be hitting him up for my heads and Cam combo.
Look him up, read his Posts. Send him a PM with what your looking for.
I bet you will be happy with the end results.

Just my .02

Sounds great.

I’d check out Pray. At least ask a question or two for your cam needs.
