Adding Resonator??

Currently have the flowmaster outlaw axlebacks(non npp) and it's creating drone from around 1500-2000 rpms. I usually don't mind it and isn't apparent when driving on the highway while it's in 4 cylinder mode, but there's a point when it starts vibrating the car.

I was thinking about adding a resonator to help eliminate the drone. Will this completely eliminate the Outlaws back to a stock sounding car? I don't mind sacrificing some exhaust note for getting rid of drone.

While the addition of a resonator will yield a minor reduction in sound they are often used to tune the overall tone of the vehicle. With our Outlaw series of exhaust systems being our most aggressive, simply adding resonators would not reduce the sound level to close to stock levels. While an increase in cabin sound is expected when increasing exterior volume we do recommend giving us a call at 707-544-4761 if you are experiencing any issues with interior resonance. That way we can get a little more information about what is going on and help find the right solution for you.

Thanks you, I've actually decided to switch to the American thunder exhaust, according to most people there's close to no drone, thanks for the support though!

I am cammed, headers, 3 inch custom stainless steel. Had outlaw mufflers, way to loud. I switch to flowmaters DBX, a moderate sounding muffler for a stock set up. But perfect for me, I can hear my radio now.

I tried a resonator before switching to DBX’s, it did nothing. Nothing against Flowmaster but the outlaw series’s is nothing more then an enlarged straight through pipe. You would almost get the same with just deleting your mufflers and going straight pipes.

Looks great. I wonder if I can replace my NPP exhaust for your same flowmasters (DBX)? How is the exhaust sound compared to the NPP exhaust? No drone, crackle or pop?

The Magnaflow X-Muffler could be an option also.
