I would have to hear it to determine what it might be, I know you're being as descriptive as possible, but sometimes it takes a Tech driving it give you the appropriate answer.

...I think it's just a shifter rattle....keep your hand on the shifter through the gears and if it's quiet, then that's what it is...common in some aftermarket shifters...

Actually that's "pre-"detonation.

But 91 is good enough in higher elevations, but if you are in lower elevations up to 93 may be beneficial. The higher you are, the less octane needed to prevent pre - detonation.

But having heard this it never sounded like bells. More like hammering on a vise instead.

OK I'll try my best to describe this. The sound is nothing like the Chevy warning chim. When I hear the sound I get an invision of the holiday bells you see around Christmas time ( the 2 small bells tied together by red ribbon). If you Google bells the image will come right up. The sound is fant but fast, like somebody holding the 2 bells together and shaking them quickly. Happens at hiiigh RPMs. Shifter is smooth, engine sounds good. I change my oil every 3,000 miles so I take care of her.. Lol this is nuts I'm trying to explain a certain bell tone, I'll post a video when I get the chance. Thanks

sounds stupid at first but, empty glove box and tighten mirror before test and only have 1 key in the ignition. if nothing else it eliminates a few choices. Good luck

I've heard it on my car a few times at ~5500rpm. It's definitely from the outside

Nope, i talked to a mechanic awhile back and he said it could be the throw out bearing going bad.But I haven't heard the noise in awhile. So I'm not stressing over it anymore, when I finally get some extra cash I'll most likely upgrade the clutch along with some aftermarket bolt ons.

Had the same issue, replaced the belt with one of those goodyear gator belts and all is well.
