2019 SS Barely started. Quit after stopping would not restart

Hi,
2019 Camaro bought new orig. battery. Started fine. I let it warm up. Made one stop after about 4 miles, turned the car off. almost did not turn over. So I took it on the expressway. Just before my exit, car began to make some clunking noises. I switched drive modes the same. Came to the top of the exit ramp, car died, would not restart like a dead batter. Wisp of smoke from under the hood. Tried to jump with a Noco and it indicated battery was hot. Towed to the dealer. Any idea?
Thanks as always.

Smoke under the hood? That is not good since the battery is in the trunk. maybe your alternator died?

Let's hope it's that simple.
Don't like the "clunking noise" business.

Anyway, battery "hot" sounds like overcharging. Charging should be controlled by the ECM which sends a duty cycle signal to the alternator. Sounds like maybe the regulator bit on the alternator failed and it sent overvoltage to battery.
