I have a solution for that gap. Don't let them take the key.

Update, after receiving at least 12 or more Safety Recall notices, got a call from my dealer asking if I was aware of the Recall and wanted the to have them perform the Recall 14294 Ignition Key. I told them I was aware and there was NO WAY I wanted them to modify my key. They assured me that I would be taken off the list. I pray that happens. What a joke.

Every time I take my buddy in to have it serviced I always have to sign a paper stating I refuse to have recall fixed, they are not taking apart my steering wheel console, the person that bought the car originally didn't have it done and either am I, dealership told me when I bought my buddy that is was a choice!! I am 5'8 with long legs and my knee doesn't even come near it....

2014 and 2015 there are no recalls for the key. Dealer replaced blade for a minimal charge for me. Upon my request.

Just got another key recall notice this week. You would think they would give up.

You may be liable if the car somehow turns off and you cause an accident resulting in a fatality. I don't know about you, but I wouldn't want to take that risk however remote it might be.

Having an extra key with the FOB is not the end of the world.

Funny thing is. They still sell the "recall" keys at the dealership. So to keep one's self out of a possible lawsuit, why not get the new key? It is free. Then just buy you a new one a week or two later. Then you will be in the clear and have a backup key for the "just in case" scenario

I 'reverse' recalled mine.

I ordered a new FOB on Amazon, cut the keyblade out of the recall key, and repinned it into the new FOB. I have a 2nd recall key that I keep just in case, as is.

If my knee came anywhere near the keys I wouldn't have done this.

No need to cut it out. Just push the pin out, swap blades, re-insert pin
