I have a solution for that gap. Don't let them take the key.

Update, after receiving at least 12 or more Safety Recall notices, got a call from my dealer asking if I was aware of the Recall and wanted the to have them perform the Recall 14294 Ignition Key. I told them I was aware and there was NO WAY I wanted them to modify my key. They assured me that I would be taken off the list. I pray that happens. What a joke.

Just got another key recall notice this week. You would think they would give up.

Funny thing is. They still sell the "recall" keys at the dealership. So to keep one's self out of a possible lawsuit, why not get the new key? It is free. Then just buy you a new one a week or two later. Then you will be in the clear and have a backup key for the "just in case" scenario

I 'reverse' recalled mine.
I ordered a new FOB on Amazon, cut the keyblade out of the recall key, and repinned it into the new FOB. I have a 2nd recall key that I keep just in case, as is. If my knee came anywhere near the keys I wouldn't have done this.

No need to cut it out. Just push the pin out, swap blades, re-insert pin
