Tire size question

Will 315 35 20's fit on the stock 20 X 9.5 RS wheel . I am looking at getting some new tires and like the wide rear look . Thanks in advance .

First off, the rear wheels are 20x9 not 20x9.5. And B, you can squeeze a 315 on there but it is not recommended by any wheel or tire manufacturer. Thirdly, there is a debate on weather it is safe or not. And finally, I have done it before and I would not do it again for safety and performance reasons.

Good answer !!!! I don't want to sacrifice safety for looks . So on that note . What would be a good size to put on the 20 X 9 wheel if I want to go a little bigger and not have a safety issue ?

Honestly, the stock Pirelli tires run very narrow. There are other tires in the same size that are a bit wider.

I think the stock rear rim width is 9 inch. All the tire experts will say you need at least a 10.5 rim width to fit a 315/35. I got the Nitto Invos to fit on a 10 inch OK as the Invos run a little narrower than other brands. Here is a pic to show you how the 315 Invo sits on a 10 inch rim.

Thanks. They are Axis "Allies" matte graphite with a machined face. Got them thru Discount Tires for $1200. Here's a pic showing the machined face

Why are your rear lug nuts so long?

The offset and concave on the 10 inch rear called for a bigger lug nut vs the 9 inch on the front. A little odd granted but in person it looks pretty darn good. So I'm fine with it.

9" is 1.5" below the minimum recommended width for that size per tire industry standards. You might get me to agree to running on wheels half an inch below minimum under a couple of very specific situations, but never to 1.5" under for unrestricted "normal street" use. That's enough narrower to make the car feel "woozy" under some circumstances, and won't play all that nice if you ever decide to take a corner much harder than "normal traffic". Or suddenly find that you have to, for any reason . . .

Consider this too, or maybe since you're concerned mostly with appearance put this first - your 315-wide tire is about 315 mm wide as measured on an 11" wheel.

On 9" wide wheels they'll only LOOK like they're 295-wide tires. Honest.

IOW, those 9" wide just threw 20mm of the tire width appearance you thought you were getting right down the toilet.

Please, if you're going to do 315-wide tires, get the right width wheels for them. 10.5" minimum, 11" preferred, anything up to 12.5" is OK. That's only as far as proper support for the 315/35 tires are concerned. Offset, backspacing, and making sure that nothing rubs anywhere is on you.
