Or are you comparing the deal you got on a used 2010 GT500 to his very bad deal? Just trying to figure out your statement because the cars are not even close in price.

A 2SS starts at 34k. 1SS at 31k. A GT 500 starts at 50k. I paid 33k OTD for my car.

The two cars are not even close in price.
2010 GT500 base msrp is/ was $46,725 and they can now be bought still brand new for low 40's

True. I didnt think of that...that is a really great deal. Although I would not want the 2010 considering the improvement in the 11 model.

That is still a 12k difference msrp to msrp from 2ss to gt500. That is HUGE in my book.

I know the 2011 cars are 49xxx msrp correct?

If I was to get one I would need the perf. options which are another 3.5k right? then you got tax on 53.5k. 3000 bucks.

Looking at almost 57k out the door for a new GT500 with the performance package as the only extra option. (not considering incentives etc)
Considering I paid 33k OTD for my car...my god the difference is damn near double the price. The difference in monthly payments would be astronomical.

NOT EVEN CLOSE to being in my ballpark when looking at a new sports car/muscle car.

But yeah...If he got a great deal on a left over 2010 model and his friend got an optioned out 2010 and paid full price the difference is a lot closer.

What if someone got a left over 2010 2SS and someone else paid full price for a new GT500? looking at a difference of about 20,000 in that case.

MSRP to MSRP, year to year, all BS and situations aside...the cars are not even close in price.

The msrp of a 2011 GT500 is higher than the msrp of a 2011 corvette. 49xxx to 48xxx

in his case it was still 2010 model vs 2010 model, even IF the 2011 was out so its still fair!

It sounds like you and I were in the same market. Did you know going into your SS purchase that you were going to to add a supercharger, full exhaust, clutch, etc. within the first year of ownership?

When I was shopping I took my future SS mods into consideration and since I didn't have the $10,000 in cash to pay for the mod's I wanted so I decided to go with the GT500 because it's only an extra $100 a month over the SS payment and already comes with a factory supercharger and the forged internals to support higher boost levels so its cheap and easy to mod your way to 600whp.

Plus if I was going to get the SS it would of had to have gotten the $2,2,00 ground effects and get them painted and the optional 21" rims to get the visual impact I was looking for. The one I built on the Chevy site was about $45k.

For me I was honest made my decision based on financial impact and ease of making additional power and running down the track before the actual look's of the car which is what initially drew me towards the SS and this forum.

Yea I knew I was going to mod. I started with Mustang GT and wanting ford racing supercharger but no dealer would install so stepped up to looking at GT500 knowing I wouldn't stop with thats stock HP. I am use to fast cars. The car I had at the time was trapping 124 to 126mph so I wanted fast.
I was told that the camaro ss was out so I went to look at that. It just was better deal for me for two reasons. One chevy dealer was nice the two ford dealers I went to were dicks (not fords fault).. second reason was the Camaro left me money to buy supercharger and exhaust. Plus girlfriend help lean me toward camaro she thought it was a lot sexier.
I did reaseach. I mainly interested in speed not luxury parts so for what I had I could make a 650HP to 700HP camaro right off the bat.

I live in Canada and the pricing is very different than what you guys in the USA pay. You can get a new 2011 GT500 for well under $50K in the USA if you shop around. I bought my 2010 GT500 "NEW" not used. His loaded 2SS L99 was stickered at $48,500 plus he had a few dealer installed options and a set of winter tires and rims plus dealer "markup". He paid $54,000 before tax. I paid $55,000 plus tax. Pretty close in price. Window sticker to window sticker was about a $11K difference and then you factor in most Camaro guys up here paid $4-5K over sticker and you can buy a GT500 for $4-5K under sticker (from the right dealer) well....you get my point.
All I can say is it will be nice when the Z28 finally arrives. That way maybe you'll have a factory stock Camaro that we can finally compare to the GT500 without you guys getting your panties in a bunch.

Not in Canada. The Corvette I would want (Z06) is $110,000+ Cdn vs a loaded 2011 GT500 at $67,000 Cdn.
Just go to GM Canada and built one.
You're comparing a sports car to a muscle car. Try legally fitting 4 people in the Vette. Lol
