As this is my 2nd ZL1, I can definitely say the stock ZL1 wheels are an absolute monster PITA to clean....

that said...

I simply think they look far more aggressive than any of the other Camaro wheels on the ZL1. The 1LE wheels for either the ZL1 or the SS both are solid choices, but I still prefer the default ZL1 wheel.

Just fits the angular/batmobile look of the car overall in my opinion. Of course, some colors work better with them than others I do feel. Also, I do think color matched/chrome wheels would also enhance some of the other choices, as it would blend better overall.

I get that a lot of people like the OEM ZL1 wheels and they do look better on certain color cars. Wheels are definitely a personal preference.

Not chrome wheels though. Chrome wheels are for Corvettes. I'm not a fan of chrome wheels on a performance car.

The designer of the 6th gen SS 1LE wheels stumbled upon rare perfection with this work. Everything about it is perfect, the shapes, the angles, the proportions, the color... try any change, it will detract from the quality of this design.

The only ones that come close are the 19" ZL1 1LE wheels (but they are also a bit busy and slightly too concave) and some aftermarket choices, but again, the SS 1LE wheels are unbeatable. I've had them for years now and they still evoke the same emotion of elegance coupled with strength.

A couple ZL1 owners commented some time ago that they would't want to mount wheels from a lower trim level, well, it must be a tough choice, because these wheels are clearly better than the stock ZL1s.

Having actually seen the chrome ZL1 wheels on a black Camaro, I have to say, I was actually digging it more so than the gunmetal colored wheels. I'm not really a fan of chrome in general, but some cars/wheels combos just look better..

This particular car looks great with them, the color combo works well.

I agree with you. The 1LE wheels are the best Gen6 oem wheels. The designer did hit a homerun with them. I've thought for a while now if I ever get a ZL1 I'd love to get a set for it. I'm actually surprised that more ZL1 owners haven't made the switch. I had a hard time finding pictures of ZL1s with 1LE wheels.

If you are going to have chrome wheels a black vehicle is probably the best color to have them on in terms of looks. The other thing about chrome plated wheels is that it adds weight to the wheels. Unsprung weight is not good for performance.

I'm in the minority and I don't care. LOVE my OEM ZL1 gunmetal wheels on my Black car. Looks great and sure, they may be "harder" to clean but I don't consider myself lazy, so I'll take the time to clean them. . That said, yes the SS 1LE wheels are a close second for me. The ZL1 1LE wheels are just MEH to me. All my opinion, but hey, we all know what WE like and that's all that matters in the end. Enjoy those wheels fellas!
