I've worked in the service department of one dealership or another for a little over 30 years, and nothing that normal people think happens really does. Service and sales quite often don't get along, in a perfect world they would, but there is usually some friction due to the nature of the business. Service actually likes to work on other dealers cars, like stealing their customer. It doesn't matter where the chevy came from, it's here spending money in our shop. If some service departments had to survive on the cars the sales department sold, they would starve to death. A dealership will screw over a regular good customer in a heart beat, yet bend over backwards and give away the farm to some schmoe off the street. They already have John Q. Loyal as a customer, but Joe Blow could be a new customer! Never mind that Mr Blow lives around the corner yet bought his car new seven years ago from the dealer across town, never came in for anything, not even an oil change in the 90,000 miles the car has on it now. Yet here he is trying to get the cigarette burns in his seat covered under warranty. And they will probably give it to him, just to win a new customer, which never happens. Meanwhile Mr Loyal has an engine failure 50 miles out of warranty. He comes in like clockwork, does everything his car needs, scheduled maintenance, takes care of like a member of the family. They will charge him diagnosis for the connecting rod hanging out of the block, and then charge full list for all parts. "Sorry, you're just out of warranty, always happens like that doesn't it?" On top of that give the job to the shop trainee so he can learn how engines work. Or don't. YMMV |

Maybe the smaller town dealers work that way, idk. I have personally seen the owner decide on whether to cover something questionable with this question: Did they buy the car here? Yes. Fix it. They charge their 67D discretionary warranty account. Now that method came from a Mike Maroone who started a little company called AutoNation. AutoNation is the largest U.S. retailer of new cars, trucks & SUVs. I started in the business at his first dealership (Chevy) His Dad Al GAVE it to him. Retired CEO and Founder - more millions than I can imagine. Did they buy the car here? Fix it! Quote:
If you don't mind delivery - get it from her. .

Becky has my vote also. She found me an extra rebate that other sales people had forgot. Had the only 1le's within 150 miles of me in Michigan and in my buying experience was great. The first time I seen my ABM 1le was the day she delivered it and I was not disappointed.

It's not all about the best dealer.
Phone all of them in your state. Give them your specs on a new 1LE and ask them to order her with their best price. I had dealers that told me to pound sand. One dealer was happy to order and gave me a great deal. My new 1LE arrived in under two months. |

Getting one already in stock sitting on the lot will usually get you a better deal than special ordering one. There are cars listed right now that are marked down $6,000-$7,000 sitting on lots, I doubt if you order one you will receive all the incentives that are on current stock. |

They have a car on their lot for two or three months, they would rather sell that car that is costing them money every day than order another one, and then discount the price lower. |

MJP also makes a good point and is how I have always bought new cars. Normally I can find several dealers within 150 miles with the car I am looking for already on the lot. I call the sales manager of each dealer, tell them that I am calling several dealers, and say I will buy from whoever gives me the best out-the-door price. It is amazing the variation in price proposals you will get. There were no black 1LE's anywhere near me, so I walked in a couple local dealers and told them that I will be ordering one and trying to find which dealer will give me the best out-the-door price. I gave them my information and would leave saying I needed to think about it. Fortunately got a call from the one that is only 4 miles from my house that came back with the best deal!
