Another MRR 1LE question :)

Just a question for the guys and gals with MRR 1LE style wheels installed WITHOUT suspension mods (4cyl and 6cyl cars. V8 people or 6cyl with 1LE option should be fine, I hope.)

Assuming you went with Phastek's recommended tire sizes, what has your experience been? Have you noticed any negative side effects regarding suspension or performance? Anything positive, other than the obvious-they-look-amazing?

I know they fit on all the models, but are they truly good for the LT's suspension?

Thanks for reading.

John

I just put them on today with pilot sport 4s tires, 275 30 20 in the front and 305 30 20 in the rear. Fit perfect, they stick out a bit more but there is a sizable wheel gap now going from the factory 40 ratio Goodyear to the 30 especially in the front. I have the BMR lowering springs, have to put them in....hope it helps because it's way to big for my liking.

Get the tires that match the OEM diameter, not what everyone is getting.

Do you think a 275/35 up front would take a bit of that gap away, or is that gap in the back as well?
Either way, I hope the springs work out!

Yep that's what I was planning to do, but I wanted to make sure they weren't putting a lot of strain on the LT's suspension. I'm probably overthinking things, as usual.
Thanks for the reply!

No prob. I noticed this trend and don't get it. Especially when people go down to 19s they also go down almost an inch in diameter. The claim that it helps with acceleration is negligible at best. Plus it throws your speedometer and mileage counter off. The weight difference in going with a slighted larger diameter would be miniscule when you compare it to the total weight.

Yes it will take some of the gap away. I'll have to take a pic of my current setup so u can see what it's like now

I don’t think on a front 275/35 set up there’s any appreciable gap at all. I worked with two different wheel and tire guys to get this look. This car is not lowered, stock suspension.

The wheels look great - they are on my wish list.

Question: Are you able to have your speedometer recalibrated if you change to a different tire size that has a different diameter?

My fronts are now 30 ration so a bit thinner

I didn't. not sure how that can be done. I know on a wrangler, AEV sells a procal module that you plug into the car with the appropriate tire height, gear ratio etc and it reprograms the speedo and shift points. Not sure its going to be that far off that i really care but I could be wrong.

I have a call into the dealership and I'll update this with their answer.

The rear OEM size = 275/35/20
Replacement rear size = 295/35/20

Calculates to a 2.03% difference based on diameters from TireRack - to some it might not make a difference, but to me it does - I can't help that I'm an engineer.
