Ceramic White Interior - Dealer Notice

I just received this email from my dealer about my ceramic white interior. Just thought I'd share it with you all.

On that note, my current SUV has very very light tan leather (shale) and it gets a blue tint on the seat edges from my jeans after about a month or so. Just about anything cleans it up very easily however and I bet I clean it about once a month or so at most. I ordered the ceramic white and was happy to see that the seat edges are actually black so as you slide into the seat it shouldn't be too much of a color transfer always. The actual seats on my SUV don't ever get the dye transfer, just the part where my butt drags across the seat edge as I enter.

Here is the info:

The 2016 Camaro offers several interior color choices for our customers. Those vehicles equipped with RPO H13 – Ceramic White Interior will need to regularly clean the interior in order to maintain the bright white appearance. If not cleaned regularly, over time dye transfer will be apparent. Do Not replace seat covers for this concern.

Refer to bulletin 06-00-89-029L for a full list of GM recommended interior cleaning products. Please make sure customers are familiar with these recommended products. Using non-recommended products may damage the leather/material.

This was all my dealer sent me. I see the link just gets you to the login page. Anyways, the blue jean dye transfer can be easily cleaned with anything you'd normally use to clean the seats. I've used plain old soap and water many times.

Watch those jeans people. I had that problem in my white interior in my last car.

Thank you Carlson. I have this interior on my order so I'm really glad you posted this. So if I understand this correctly, there is no way to prevent the problem - we just have to clean it up properly and promptly after wearing jeans?

I wish there was something I could treat the seats with so I wouldn't even have to worry about this. I picked this interior before even settling on a paint color.

I can just imagine the PITA it is to maintain a white interior. It looks beautiful when clean and new.... I guess the moral of the story is to always wear khakis and get rid of all your blue jeans.

It's not all blue jeans that do it, and even after a month it just starts to get noticeable. I'm not really worried about it since where it happens on my SUV is the seat edge. It never happens on the actual seat. Since the ceramic white seat edge is black I think you will be surprised that it won't be much of an issue.

This is actually a good point. Most of the blue in my last car had an entirely white seat and most of the dye transfer was on the bolster. The bolsters on the Camaro are black which was a good call on GM's part.

"Bolster" thats the word I was looking for! And, yes I agree GM thought it through on the white seats by keeping the BOLSTERS black.

I wanted the white seats but then I remembered my ex girlfriends Range Rover. After 6 months the jeans completely stained the driver's seat and would not come out. Good luck with it. The white looks amazing when it's new

They put that release out there for a reason though, which means that people are already having a problem and trying to get them replaced. That's the only thing that's got me worried. It's just not realistic for me to tell someone they can't sit in my car because they have jeans on so I might just keep a towel in the car for them to sit on.

I am treating my white ceramic interior at least once a week.
It looks so SHARP!
If you keep up to date on the cleaning you will have no problems.
