Forget the depreciation and "latest model" crap...It's a car and depreciation is what they do. Unless you're loaded and a collector investing in already-classic vehicles, you're gonnna spend money you won't ever get back so enjoy the ride you've got and be happy that you've got an "original" Gen5 style (pre-facelift) that the 14-ers don't have...

The only "investment" was mentally in order to bring on the permagrin!

If you really like your car and have no intention of selling it, Don't worry about it going down on value. Just have fun and enjoy it as much as you can! I just wish the cost of plates and insurance would go down along with the value.

Is it your daily driver,if so drive it and enjoy the time you have it.Only a few rare cars will hold or gain value, and we know they cost a fortune in the first place.I've been buying my own cars for 30 years and have never given any thought about what they would be worth when trading or selling,if I did that I'd have an ulcer or worse.

skrush. i am looking at new 13 camaro yet. some 14 are out there. aside from tailites and minor front change, the rest of the car is the same. i am not sure what you are talking about. the body style is the same on the 14. i could see your point if the whole car was changed. but i wouldnt let tailites and front facia bum you out. your car is still the current body style. so drive it and enjoy and know most all cars will depreciate. thats the way it is.

As many have said, you lose $ after driving off the dealer lot. Enjoy it now, and see what's available 4-5yrs down the road. Mod it to your liking, and you'll be alot happier, better than a stock/new one. That's what I've done, setting it apart from the 'norm'.

Well, in spite of what others have said, it could be an investment if you find a barn to store it in for the next 30 years. Drive it in there, put it on blocks, cover it and forget it. It should start going up in value at that point.

Drive it, enjoy it...

... and never think about what it will be worth in "X" years again.

(the only drop in the future to be concerned about is ball drop...)

No worries here. I plan on keeping her forever.

I'll be Clint and she will be the Gran Torino.

Going to be a little harsh here... If you're looking at a car as an investment, sorry you need a slap in the face. Any car will depreciate in value over time, it's a fact of life. If you buy a "sports" car like this you're paying for the enjoyment you get out of it and the service it provides.

More to the point, I will never lose sleep over what I paid for this car or "value" lost. I didn't buy this car because it's "cool" or am a person who turns around and sells a car 2 months after they purchased it, I bought it because I am crazy about it! If I ever do get rid of this car it will be over 10 years from now and it will have served it's purpose by then and be well worth the money.

No need to worry about your car's value unless you are ready to sell. Considering you've only had your car 8 months, you are probably not in that situation.

I've had my 2012 1SS for 1 month now. I bought it used with only 7900 miles. It is still under factory warranty till October of next year. I used the 2014 model as a bargaining chip in the negotiations for my car.

I prefer to let other people take the depreciation hit on new vehicles, and then I swoop in and get a nice ride for a great price. I did the same with my Duramax.

Car and investment in the same sentence??? Isn't that an oxymoron?
