I had a 2014 Camaro ZL1 AT and then a 6th gen Camaro SS 6MT. I loved the looks of my 5th gen ZL1, it was an attention getter, looked like a real muscle car and had a very strong 580 HP engine but the car felt heavy compared to the very agile and lightweight Alpha chassis 6th gen Camaro. The fifth gen had more rear seating space and on the 6th gen it has very rear limited seating space. If you want the best available Camaro there is no better Camaro than the 6th gen Camaro, the 5th gen Camaro is a decade older in technology.

Night and day difference. If you're going to upgrade, get an SS or LT1 though. The creature comforts and technology is a lot better in the 6th gen, and if you get a 2SS/2/3LT you'll have the ambient lighting which is awesome in these cars. The alpha chassis is a much better too, and they're quite a bit faster too. IIRC the V6 is in the 6th gen is close to the 5th gen SS in power. The digital mirror and side mirror warnings is a good QoL upgrade, though it isn't any better as far as seeing out of.

If you want one for a daily, the 6th gen is a much better car. If you want one for a weekend car, the 5th gen is fine nowadays but I wouldn't want one for a daily at this point.

At least do yourself a favor and honestly go over your budget.

Then go see if you can get a test drive. The Gen6 is a much bettet driving car but its definitely shrunk down from the Gen5.

I didn't even want the refreshed 2019, it was hideous to me. I was looking for a 2018 used, but the price of a new 19 was real close to the best price I could find for used, so that made me go drive one. The 19 won me over. Set eyes on it then drove it, hands down better in every way except the interior space as everyone will attest to. Worth the upgrade to the 6th gen. Now I'm even coming back from a C7 Vette.
