I just got notified that someone attempted to log in under my username 5 times.
Here is the Email I got.

Dear Angrybird 12,

Someone has tried to log into your account on Chevrolet Corvette Stingray C7 Forum with an incorrect password at least 5 times. This person has been prevented from attempting to login to your account for the next 15 minutes.

The person trying to log into your account had the following IP address: 96.44.189.101

I am posting this here because if it was attempted in that forum it may be attempted here also.

Another FYI:

Have a strong password, which is probably why he didn't get in!
At least 8 characters
At least 1 number
At least one symbol
At least one upper/lowercase

Try avoiding words and number combinations too.

The IP won't get you anywhere, its just a VPN IP that helps mask his true whereabouts.

That is true so once they get in on one account they have access to them all, that's why I posted this on all three forums.

If they find a password that works for these accounts, they will try it on other sites like banking and financial accounts.

Most people use the same password for just about everything.

I used to but now I don't. The password I use here is unique and does not reflect anything to do with my life in any way. I try to do that on all my passwords.

Same thing happened to me on my GM truck forum. I traced the IP to Canada.

Easiest thing to do, as it's worked for Wifey, and both my kids (as in ease to remember) is think up a short sentence and use that. Something around 20 letters.

Ilove*********Forums for instance. No need for anything more intricate. (Although I'd not recommend that exact one!)

Got that message too a few days ago - my guess is someone is trying to cull user IDs/PWS for use elsewhere, getting into the forums isn't going to get them anything they can monetize (unless you put your true name etc. in your profile).

I got that message a few months ago. Traced the IP and supposedly it was from China. It's funny because I don't think I ever made a c7 account.

The Camaro5, Camaro6, and Corvette7 forums are part of the same system. An account at one seems to give you an account at all three.
