Arrow What Tail Lights do you have?

Hello Camaro6!

A go to item to replace on the Camaro I noticed is the factory tail lights. I wanted to get everyone's opinion what tail lights designs they like. I am very fond of tail lights that replicate the tail lights on the C8 Corvettes like Auto Addicts produces. Please feel free to respond answering any of these questions along with any additional notes of your own. Include a photo showing what you had install!

Here are some Bullet Points to go off of
  • Submodel (2.0,V6, SS, ZL1) -
  • Year -
  • Brand of Tail lights -
  • Do you prefer replicas or different designs -
  • Pros -
  • Cons -
  • Do you like it or not -

Thank you everyone!

Here is a reference photo showing how the Auto Addict Umbra lights look like on the 2016-2018 Camaros. There is also designs for the 2019+ Camaros.

Staying with OEM on my ZL1. Like the sequential feature of the Umbras but HATE they look like C8 tail lights. Make them look DIFFERENT than a C8 and maybe more people would buy the aftermarket ones??? If I'm driving a Camaro, I want it to look like a Camaro, not a Vette.

ZL1 1LE smoked taillights on my 2018 2SS. I even bought a spare kit for futureproofing. They are perfect in every way, nothing on the aftermarket matches the body design and other electrical components on the car so well. The C8 style is somewhat similar to stock, but I personally don't like their weird stacked triple light body setup, it was definitely made for the Corvette's body lines.

(Aftermarket headlights are much more appealing from a design and functionality perspective, for example, the Morimoto LEDs with their 2+2 lamp configuration could easily be adapted slightly and offered by GM as an option, they are an almost natural fit.)

I think I'm the odd ball here when it comes to this. I have the OEM and wouldn't change them. I am not a fan of all the smoked lenses. I like the red accents in the rear and the side parkers. It goes with the red SS badges, the red calipers...

That makes total sense because your car is blue, a color that complements the red in an energetic way. Mine is garnet red, and the different shade of red in the taillight looks like a mistake against the paint.

The OEM smoked are fine with me, I really don’t want the aftermarket look!

I agree with jamala! I like the look of the OEM taillights on my 2017 ZL1 and wouldn’t change them for any aftermarket ones.

100% agree with you and Jamala as well! Taking the entire rear bumper off just to have tail lights that look like a Vette?! Haha..no thanks!. Not to mention, I think the OEM's look great as is.

I was asked to test aftermarket tail lights (such as Morimotos) on my 2016 SS by a company back in 2019. Every pair I tested had some electrical gremlins, so most importantly, make sure that any tail lights you sell don't have these gremlins that cause battery drain, reverse lights to stay lit, flicker, etc.
