I think that's a VERY high risk proposition and I wouldn't ride - not to mention track - my car on them until the vendor chimes back with a definite statement re root cause etc. One cracking might be a fluke. BOTH going suggests a design, or metal issue (to me anyway). I'd give the vendor plenty of time here and not assume this should be fixed over night. I also wouldn't want to be the one "testing" new ones in RL with my own ride at stake.

Thank you for posting an honest eval.

This speaks wonders for your Company. A++

Great response. Failure identified, corrective action put in place, customer outfitted with a replacement.

Except that doesn't explain the driver side failure as the OP mentioned the bolts hadn't backed out on that one. I hope they are able to examine and redesign personally. I would like to get these plates when they have this issue and the rears figured out.

Ooops I didn't see that part. Well in that case there might be a design revision in their future.

*edit* here's it is:

I'll post some pics when I get a chance today. Thanks again to MMS for being available after hours I appreciate it.

Eric SS - How do I move the thread to the autocross/track section? Do I have to request a moderator to do it?
Yea that sounds like the plate needs to be stronger.

Yep. Hence my post #43...
I'd hope that once corrected, the vendor will test revised ones on an equally heavy car on slicks in an environment they are presumably designed for: race track. Hopefully a couple of seasons worth of runs (say 40 days worth) and hopefully they still look like new. I wouldn't even wish to contemplate suspension failure at a fast track with concrete walls present - as often is the case.
Seems the vendor is very responsive, so hoping they will do what's right here, including some kind of a recall. Surely we would expect nothing less if this were an OEM part *and* safety was at stake.

Ok, so I took the right one off today (didn’t have time to the the LT yet) and the plate still looked fine. No cracks or anything. I should be able to do the left one tomorrow.

I didn’t have to pull the entire strut off. I was able to undo the top three bolts that connect it to the strut tower and the sway bar end link. Then, I removed the three bolts that allow for camber adjustment and hold the top plate on. I then removed the top plate. That gave me enough room to see the plate in question from the bottom and take photos of it with my iPhone from all angles too see there were no cracks or anything. That way I didn’t have to undo the strut bolts on the knuckle.

That said, if there is a redesign i’m definitely going to want to install it for piece of mind for sure.

I had 1 track day 3 x 20 minute sessions and 2 autocross events. I was on stock tires 2 of the events and my last event I had RE-71Rs. I had -3.0 camber for all of them. For toe I had 1/16 in the front and 1/8 in the rear.

Like Trackclub said, 1 day which was 3 20 minute sessions + 2 Time Attack Laps on a tight twisty go kart track.

For tires I had 220tw Goodyear Eagle F1 supercar, 285/35 19 size. Not super grippy.

Roughly -3* camber. 1.5* at the knuckle and 1.5* at the camber plate. Zero toe.

I did not have the plates lowered 1/2” since I am already lowered on BMR Springs

Took off the left side today and both of mine still look perfect. I’ll look at them again next weekend (28th and 29th) at the end of each day to see how they are holding up

I have a background in metallurgy, I would love to know the reason for these failures. Not to bash ANY vendor anywhere, but at some point owners need to realize that most all of them are very small and just copy other's designs, because they have access to CNC equipment. I used to be involved with certified aircraft parts and it just makes me wonder.........
