Yep, and they were fine on the road, but the Michelins are a whole other thing. 285-40-19 on all 4 corners. I now have 4 autocross events on them and the still feel fine on the road and have plenty of tread left.

I just got a good deal ($150) for a pair of 295/30/20 Pilot super sports for the rear of my ZL1 and I noticed a HUGE difference compared to my Good years. I no longer turn sideways everytime I accelerate and they bite much harder around corners. They make my car feel much more nimble and almost feels as if I added a power adder.

"Tire Rack’s Rogers spends half a year managing a fleet of seven test cars and more than 100 test drivers. He said that on any given day with a single driver, the Michelin, Yokohama, Toyo, or Hankook might finish quickest in a dry autocross because of variances in driving styles. But, on average, the Yokohama ends up the winner, meaning more drivers go quicker with this tire than any other. They had better, for $199 apiece.
The Yoko’s podium finish comes down to its dry performance. Geswein effused, “This tire thrived on driving the dog snot out of it.” Every aspect of this tire’s dry performance (steering, grip, feedback, recovery, and precision) was strong.
Geswein’s enthusiasm might have been tempered had he been aware of how the Yokohama would fare in the wet: Not so great. The Yokohama finished just ahead of the bottom markers, with lap times at the slow end and midpack grip.
Subjectively, the AD08 seemed louder than its 66-decibel reading, with thwacking sounds over bumps. Plus, its ride was pretty firm. Those are two annoyances we would gladly trade for a dry-performance advantage if we were regularly indulging in track days."

The Ad08 is a 180 treadwear tire, which I can't use in any of the Pro Touring events...so while it probably does have better grip than the Michelin PSS, it would relegate me to Exhibition status...For that matter R888's are better than the Ad08's but again, they are 100tw....

I seriously doubt you would be able to do what I did on one set of Michelin PSS that is outlined in this thread...but feel free to try and drive 9500 miles cross country, autocrossing and road course 5 multi-day events and see whether you can do all that on one set of the Ad08's.

WOW, only 500 miles on the NT05, I got 10k on mine, 2 days road course, 2 days auto cross and several 1/4 mile passes... Rears are on the wear bars, fronts almost on the bars. Love my NT05 tires and will be replacing with the same. 275 fronts and 315 rears....

The Michelins Pilot Super Sports are great tires. They provide excellent performance. The only issue is how much they cost.

You can easily spend $1500 - $1600 on the Michelin Super Sports.
The Nittos (Invos or NT05s) run about $1100.00 - $1200.00

That's usually the reason most people go with the Nittos (Invos or NT05s).

The Michelin PSS in 285/35/20s are just $1250-$1275 after the $70 mail in rebate at Costco, Tirebuyer, Discount Tire, and Tire Rack. The 295s are $1600+ so I don't see how $400 is worth 10mm. If I had a ZL1 295/315 would be the setup to have but for a square setup 285 are the best for the cost.

In fact I am ordering them online right now for $1249.96 shipped and includes their roadside hazard warranty. Installation is $15/tire including disposal fee.

That's all I have on my NT05R's (500 miles)... The bad thing is they don't even hook up! I'll never get them again. If I do a drag radial again it will be the MIckey Thompson's! There isn't even a competition between the two! The MT's hook....the nitto's don't...., but my next tire is going to be the Michelins!

But you get a 15,000 mile warranty for that price with the pilot super sports... So it's worth it in my opinion!

Yeah, the 315/35/20 Michelins are $400.00 a tire at Tirerack. So if you stay with the 285s you'll save some cash.
A squared setup will even work better for road course action.

I just like to have the widest possible in the back for off the line traction.

And I do feel the Michelins are worth the extra money. I've run them and they are great tires. They are the best street tires I've ever run.

Just to be clear about this. You are talking about the Pilot Super Sports with the 300TW rating and NOT the PS2 with the 220TW, correct?
