Question...What do you use for bug Cleaner?

I need advise. What does everyone use for a bug or a quick car exterior cleaner. Is windex good for all around cleaner on the paint and plastic?
Maybe like if you are at a car show and want to clean it up a little for the show.

I usually use turtle wax bug and tar remover because it's never really steered me wrong...just remember, your removing a layer of wax with it. Make sure it's clean and put a layer of wax over it. In a pinch I'll use plain old white Colgate toothpaste..rinse real well if you go the Colgate route, dry and place a layer of wax over the spot. Never use plain old Windex on a cars exterior paint. If you want to clean the interior with windex that would be fine but I would reccomend using a product that's geared towards your interior such as Meguires interior products. I usually use a California duster on the exterior and if I'm up to it I'll put a layer of Meguires quick wax (spray on) with a microfiber cloth. If you have a leather interior I would suggest using Meguires leather cleaner and protector as it brings out that showroom shine and brings the color back to the leather. As doran exterior wax I use Meguires gold class. I shy away from the nxt products because my car is not garaged and t would be a waste..any questions, feel free to ask...I've detailed cars for countless car shows, including my own vehicles

NOTHING, no chemicals. If I end up with a bunch of bugs on the front and they have baked on from the sun. I take a couple bath towels, soak them, drape them over the front end, the bugs will get soft again after an hour or so and you can wipe thgem off, or use a hose and spray them off. works for me.

The trick is to soak them really good over and over with water before trying to rub them off.

Is there anything wrong with Bug & Tar remover? I have a bottle that I use on my other cars and it works great. Is there some reason not to use it?

Mothers Showtime is what I use on my hot rods that I drive to shows. All of the wax companies have good products Meguires Quick Detailer , Turtle wax, Eagle One.......
For the quick detailers to work you must care of your care with regular washes and waxing etc....if you do all of that the bug removal after driving will be easy with great results.

Any fabric softener sheet for the dryer with some water works well too. No scratches at all and very little elbow grease.

The wet towels idea is ingeniuos! I will give that a try for sure.

You guys that wash every day or fery frequently don't notice the paint getting swirl marks from all the washing? It seems no matter how careful you are a speck of dirt will get in your sponge or towel and make a swirl here and there and the more often you wash the more of them you accumulate.

I use Meguiars quick detailer with a microfiber towel often and it works well for me. I don't see any ill effects from using it either. I don't even wash my camaros, I've been using the quick detailer on my 67 for 3 years and have only washed it by hand 2 or 3 times. I only washed my '10 the day after I bought it, the rest of the cleaning was with the quick detailer. No swirl marks or scratches either.

Captain, something else that helps, IF you can stand leaving your car outside overnight, the dew will loosen up the bugs and soften them overnight then use the towels first thing in the morning, it makes the job a lot easier and quicker. if nothing else, do the towel thing in the morning after its all cooled off. I have done this on my truck when the bugs were REALLY bad, I have gone so far as soaking the towels the night before, before I went to bed, then toweled the front off the next morning.

The best thing I've found is to just use micro fiber towels when washing. They really take them off easy. I usually just go over the front end twice when washing and I've never scrubbed them. Just normal washing and they are gone.
