Well, like it or not, it makes a lot of sense. More and more the Mustang is trying to cover all the bases from low-end Camaro to high-end Corvette. I'm not going to try and argue which strategy is better (one model to compete against two, or two models to compete against one). Although, considering the Mustang had seven model years where it didn't have true competitor from Chevy, I suppose it's logical the Mustang would start taking aim at Corvette. Personally, I'd rather have had Mustang and Camaro going head to head and keep the GT around to battle Corvette.

Lose that rear 1/4 window and it would be pretty cool.

Like a junior Aston Martin.

you do realize that you're comparing stats of a 2013 car (1LE) with a 2010 car that weighs over 100lbs more than the current car (GT500)?

No point trying to prove a point based on false logic.

It is pretty much universally accepted the upgraded Camaros are faster lap cars than the Mustangs. That being said, there is no way a stock 2010 SS is as fast as a 2010 GT500. Nor are the 2011-2012 SS as fast as the 2011-2012 GT500's. And the 2013 SS damn sure isn't even close to the 2013 GT500. As a current Mustang owner, I freely admit the SS 1 LE gives you the most car for the money. But when I was looking to buy, I never found one even close to $37,000. I could get a 2010 GT500 with 4,000 miles for about 40K, or I could get a 2012-2013 SS 1 LE for about $42,000. That was the most common price I saw. Since I am not going to a track, I'm not concerned about lap times. I wanted an iron block engine. Call me a fool but I think in general they last longer than aluminum blocks, and all the Shelby's internals are forged. If I could have got an SS 1 LE for the price I see them advertised instead of the price I saw at the dealership, my choice may have been different. With a different set of tires I could probably shave 0.5 seconds off the 1/4 mile. The 2010 and newer Shelbys are not slow.
