What do you mean significant problems with this report? Validity or just the possible implications?

Validity. A quick google search and you'd find:

Quote:
As you might have predicted, Google is calling "pretty much bullshit" on this one:

"Steering this story straight - we take privacy very seriously and do not collect the data the Motor Trend article claims such as throttle position, oil temp and coolant temp. Users opt in to share information with Android Auto that improves their experience, so the system can be hands-free when in Drive, and provide more accurate navigation through the car’s GPS."

That's the official statement from Google, and while it doesn't provide a complete technical debunk on Porsche's claims, it does support what we know about Auto to date - it uses things like GPS and vehicle speed to improve the navigation experience. Users have to opt in to this stuff, as well.

Does AT&T provide the LTE wifi? Or is this with onstar? If it is at&t I am out. I travel a lot of the us every year and only use Verizon for this reason. Now onstar is GPS and I will sign up for wifi through that to keep my data down on my cell phone.

The answers are in this thread if you would read up a few posts. No OnStar does not use GPS to communicate. GPS is for positioning information. AT&T 4G LTE provides the in car WiFi which is sold through data plans from OnStar. The car's antennae is also much better than a cell phones, so you might be surprised how many places it works.

Think someone said another GM car with it wouldn't let you turn it off. But you can change the password on it, maybe hide the ssid.

AT&T is very good, been using them for 20 years and have always had great service! Verizon on the othet hand is very expensive and always had worse service compared to AT&T, comparing with 2 phones side by side.

Yeah you can change the password for the SSID, I believe you have to contact Onstar to initiate it though.

Considering trading my 2015 RS for a 2016 but need to know first if ANY of the 2016 radios will be upgradeable for Android Auto or just certain ones. Please advise as I want to get the correct radio that will be upgradeable.

7" displays for LT cars already have AA. 8" ones are due for a software patch early in the year. So yes all mylinks will support it.

thanks, that is great news. is there a big difference between the screens size or is the larger mainly for navigation?

It's noticeable for sure. Also the display themes are different between the two.
