2016 Camaro SS = 3,695 lbs (my guess)
I expect a 2016 Camaro built on the ATS coupe version of the Alpha chassis to weigh 3,695 lbs with the 460hp LT1 and 7spd stick.
Here are some figures that support the 3,695 lbs weight of the 2016 LT1 Camaro. It might be hard to follow, but trust me, it makes sense. estimated 2016+ Alpha Camaro curb weights: LT1 curb weight = 3,695 lbs LT4 curb weight = 3,921 lbs ATS coupe 3.6 V6 = 3530 lb 2016 CTS-V 4145 lb CTS V6 3.6 3754 lb CTS-V weight minus CTS V6 weight = 391 lb (weight added for LT4 drivetrain over the V6) ATS V6 3530 lb + 391 lbs for LT4 drivetrain = 3921 lb LT4 Alpha Camaro 2015 Z06 3524 lb - C7 LT1 3298 lb = 226 lb ( added for LT4 over LT1 ) estimated weight of LT4 Alpha Camaro 3921 lb minus 226 lb weight savings to LT1 drivetrain = 3695 lbs LT1 Alpha Camaro = 3,695lbs 2015 ATS coupe weights 3.6L Luxury 3.6L Performance 3.6L Premium Curb Weight (RWD) 3530 lbs 3530 lbs 3530 lbs 2015 CTS Sedan 3.6L Luxury 3.6L Premium Curb Weight (RWD) 3754 lbs 3854 lbs 2016 CTS-V Curb weight (lb / kg): 4145 / 1880 (4253 lbs is 2014 CTS-V Sedan Automatic) 2016 ZO6 1LZ Weight 3524 lb 2015 Corvette 1LT LT1 Base Curb Weight 3298 lbs 2015 Camaro LS3 1SS 2SS 1LS 3.6L V6 Base Curb Weight 3908 lbs 3935 lbs 3719 lbs |

Makes a lot of sense to be honest hope it is that accurate I was kind of thinking the same thing, after talks with my dealership principle who saw the visual of the Camaro in Detroit last week!!! There is much coming and I believe a 4 banger is going to be in the mix, now will it be a single turbo or a dual turbo 4 is the question I have been asking to help with the caf laws

I think that's a reasonable guess.

Saw your post on Mustang6G.. I've been banned on there so I can't comment.. Actually, they blocked the IP addresses from everywhere I have connected. LOL. Love reading Pill's posts.. What a turd fanboy.

Thankfully, I don't, and can wait for the 2016 Camaro SS. I just hope GM drops the weight, completely redesigns the hideous interior, and improves the poor visibility. I've been buying Corvettes since 1997 only because GM dropped the Camaro and I don't like the 5th Gen at all. On the other hand, I hate the attention and false stereotypes associated with owning a Corvette. So, I am very excited for a the 6th Gen Camaro. |

Ignore anything thePill has to say about GM products. Any factual information he has to say is run through the most blatant fanboyism I have ever seen.

Yeah. That dude is a character. I'm sure he'd be gloating now because his name was brought up on this forum. I actually own a 2013 GT as of September, but I look forward to trading it in for a 2016 SS.
I've seen people mention that Mustang6G is run my Ford insiders.. Based on me getting banned for not "pumping" the Mustang and questioning things, I wouldn't be surprised. I'll be going to the Detroit Auto Show and hope the Camaro is there.. I'm very excited for that and to see the Volt as well. |

I'm willing to bet if you ran into him in real life, he'd be walking down the side of the road having a animated conversation with himself about Mustangs vs. Camaros.

I agree with this weight guestimate. I've been saying 3,650 to 3,700 for base SS. V6 should be in the 3,500 to 3,600 range.

I think the 2013 Mustang is a solid car overall. I also drove the Challenger, but it felt too big to be a second car. If I had to have only one car, Challenger would be great I should have driven a Camaro one more time, but I went with my initial impression and this is what I'm stuck with for now. Camaro was definitely smoother. Anyway, enough comparisons. Bring on the 6th gen! |

I really didn't "troll" or poke fun at the Mustang. I did call them out on the excessive Camaro and Challenger bashing though. What's funny about me getting blocked is that my friend/coworker bought a 2015 Gt. He can't connect to the site at work from our wifi now. Lolol.

Ok, another hopeful thread (and as usual I hope you are correct).
However, you are working down not up. Simply take the weight of an ATS coupe and ADD the weight difference between todays V6 Camaro and an SS. You have the ATS Coupe V6 RWD at 3540. You then suppose that you can add a V8, the larger radiator required, the larger transmission required, the larger axles and driveshaft required and the bigger wider rear tires and then the larger brakes required in under 155 pounds? Not going to happen unless they apply premium materials. My worry is that the premium materials on the ATS won't make it to the Camaro to save $$ and if that is the case you are starting at an even higher weight point. Your shot is if the base Camaro actually saves 100 plus pounds due to removal of "premium/luxury" content. Problem is there isn't really that much of that to be removed. You also have to consider that the Camaro will also add weight in areas. Currently the car is grossly under competitive for the interior. GM better add something awesome here that is near Corvette in quality. Even the new Tahoe has an outstanding interior and I expect GM to be smart enough to realize they are woefully deficient in the interior on the Gen 5. Again, I hope I am wrong, I'd love to see an SS come in under 3,700 pounds. But I'm leaning more toward the 3,800 pound mark now. And a 3,800 pound SS with an LT1 and an interior that embarrasses the Mustang will be more than awesome enough for me, thank you GM.
