Not the same thing. Two different models unless they decided to make the track focused z/28 a blower car like the z06. The 350r is just a better version of the 350. I wouldn't be surprised to see gm drop either the z/28 or zl1 name and make the car one model.

Based on no 3rd motor at this time, I'd say that's a good possibility. If they want to make a track car, then would think they would drop the ZL1 and follow Z06 with the boosted LT4 track tuned Camaro.

2017 will be Camaro's 50th Anniversary....might be a good time for the 6thGen Z/28 to reappear with a unique engine.....or other surprises that we won't see for 2016...

I initially thought GM would debut the 6th Gen as a 2017 model to celebrate the anniversary, but obviously that won't happen. Makes me wonder if the first year will have a short production run so they can focus on MY 17.

It's already a short production simply by what is very likely a late 15 early 16 launch. Also keep in mind if it is early like the 2010 Camaro was GM could simply call it a 2017 model and be done with it.

They can legally call a car 2017 model on 1/2/16. As far as I have seen there has been no indication there will not be a 2016 Camaro.

New Caddys are in...
http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=395349 Cadillac Prices 2016 ATS-V Sedan at $61,460, Coupe at $63,660 Cadillac Opens Ordering for 2016 ATS-V Dual-purpose performance luxury compact designed for the track, touring General Motors February 10, 2015 This image has been resized. The original image is sized 1280x814 and weights 143KB. DETROIT – Cadillac dealers have begun accepting orders for the 2016 ATS-V – the brand’s inaugural luxury compact performance car starting production this spring. Available in sedan and coupe forms, the twin-turbocharged ATS-V offers a dual-purpose luxury performance experience: a car with true track capability straight from the factory with sophisticated road manners. Powered by the segment’s highest-output six-cylinder engine – the Cadillac Twin Turbo rated at 455 horsepower (339 kW) and 445 lb-ft of torque (603 Nm) – the ATS-V achieves 0-60 performance in 3.9 seconds and a top speed of 189 mph. The Cadillac Twin Turbo engine is backed by a six-speed manual – with Active Rev Match, no-lift shifting and launch control – or a paddle-shift eight-speed automatic transmission featuring launch control and Performance Algorithm Shift. “The V-Series is the ultimate expression of Cadillac’s re-ignited product substance and the passion at the core of our brand,” said Johan de Nysschen, Cadillac president. “The ATS-V expands the V-Series lineup, bringing a new kind of performance character to Cadillac. Lightweight, agile and potent, the ATS-V will make an ideal pairing with the larger and even more powerful all-new 2016 CTS-V midsize sedan, which arrives later this summer,” he said. In the U.S., the 2016 ATS-V sedan carries a starting price of $61,460 and the ATS-V coupe is priced from $63,660. Consumers can order ATS-Vs now through dealers and begin specifying their own ATS-V online at www.cadillac.com in April. Additional performance technologies built into the ATS-V include:
An available Performance Data Recorder allows drivers to record high-definition video, with data overlays, of their driving experiences on and off the track, enabling sharing on social media. More than just a desirable road car, the ATS-V will also become Cadillac’s entrant into the world of motorsports. Even before the new car hits the showroom, Cadillac Racing’s new ATS-V.R racecar will begin the Pirelli World Challenge GT 2015 season March 7-8 at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas. Cadillac Racing is the three-time defending manufacturer’s and driver’s champion in the series, which features legendary marques such as Audi, Ferrari and Porsche. The ATS-V will be assembled at the Lansing Grand River assembly plant in Michigan. __________________ |

Yeah, that's just too much for me, I'm planning on maxing out at around 65K for a 6th Gen ZL1, if they come out with one.
a 63K CTS-V would have been really tempting. The last time I checked prior to a few minutes ago on a CTS-V, they were around 65K, but checking their site just now, up to 71K, and 85K 2016 actually makes choosing easier. The CTS-V is incredible and looks great, but I'd rather have the Camaro look. |
