Its worth mentioning that people traded in their 67-69 Camaros for the new Camaros when they came out. I'll keep my Gen 5.

Those are stock vehicle times and about every 1LE owner has done a CAI and exhaust mods, so I am not too worried at a road course or autox. Now drag strip I will just deal with a A8 going 12.2's. Because I am lucky to to go 12.8. |

Knowing the development team for the 1le, the 6th gen SS and the test drivers, I have been told the new SS turns faster lap times than the 1LE under all circumstances. Sorry, but I love my 1LE for the visceral driving experience and would not trade it. Wouldn't mind having a 6th gen too though.

Worst post in the thread. Aside from 2 doors and 4 wheels, they look nothing alike. I despise blind fanboyism of owners of the current gen. "OH THANK GOD I HAVE MINE, THE NEW ONE IS AWFUL" yeah. Okay bud. |

Can't agree more. People get so emotionally invested in their current car, they can't admit a future version might be nicer.I'm sticking with my 5th gen 1LE because I like it and that is what makes sense financially. But, if it was cost neutral, the 6th gen would have to be the choice. It looks great, and I am betting that driveability and refinement are clearly better -- to say nothing of the speed.

I've seen the new one in person, looks better than in the pictures and the interior is much nicer fit and finish than the Gen5. That said, looking at them side by side and comparing them closely, I prefer the look of the Gen5. Would I turn down a Gen6? No, but I'm damn happy with what I got.

My guess is that these cars are still close enough that it will boil down to the driver.
Increase in power is only 9% which is nothing to snub your nose at, but it depends on where in the powerband it shows up. That's a max number, anywhere else, it's less than that. They haven't built the SS for track like the 1LE. It is closer to a track car than the gen5 but the 1LE package is quite a set of goodies.. 200(ish) pounds difference in weight is somethnig, but not a game changer.. Should be fun to watch....
