Hard and rough to shift when car is warm, what is your transmission fluid temp?
I feel like my car gets harder and rougher to shift when is warm compared to cold.
Was wondering whether it has to do with this "high" (maybe) transmission fluid temperature? Thanks for everyone's input and help. |

Car has only 4000 miles, shouldn't be because of a worn clutch.

I've never seen my trans temp that high, even during a track day with a lot of long sessions that were back to back. However that was during a 70* day, if your ambient air temp is 100* I would think that it could get that high if run hard enough. Just my .02

That's definitely hot for anything short of all day tracking or LA gridlock in a heat wave. Mine barely ever gets to 150, even when playing.

Mine jumps to 180 with high speed at ~80 degrees. Do a search on site for trannie fluid temp; it seems to be all over the place for everybody regardless of engine or auto/manual lol.

That does seem quite high. I have only seen my trans-temp that high on an 85 degree track day after multiple hot laps. Getting on the car a bit in the mountains only gets it up around 150-175. Maybe a trans cooler issue???

Mine ran that high, but it caused from a leaking pinion seal. Since it's been fixed, it hasn't gotten higher than 120*-130*. I'd check under your car for any leaks and check the rear diff and trans fluid levels.

Mmmmm I am getting all kinds of answer and is making me concern. I have never seen any leak for the car (from the floor).
I do live in Miami so it's like a 80 degree temperature. And I wasn't running her hard, it was just local communiting. Will definitely check the trans fluid. I did replaced the rear diff fluid when I did my first oil change (2000 miles), so it shouldn't be a problem. |

During daily driving, my trans temp doesn't even move. I used to think I had a bad sensor until I drove it hard one day, and it moved up a smidge. The M6 doesn't get anywhere near as hot as the A8, so for yours to be that high, makes me suspect something is wrong.

on 90 degree day last week. Freeway driving and stop and go traffic for miles. Got up to 160 on my car. that was the highest I have ever seen it. Keep in mind... Its a cooler. It needs air moving across it or its not going to cool. Now if you were crusing down the highway no traffic and its getting that hot I might be concerned. Check for leaks. If none, take it in and have the dealer check it out. Thats what your warranty is for.

When you guys take these readings you need to note ambiet. If you are driving around 20 degree weather your temps arent relative to someone in South Flordia. We should be noting differential temperatures from ambient to what the guage reads that might get us all somewhere
