Can you have your headers coated after install?

I had my headers installed about a year ago. Can I still have them ceramic coated after running them on the car?

I don’t see why not. I believe they strip them down to bare metal before coating anyway

Yup it's possible. They'll have to clean them up so it might cost a little more than coating brand new parts

Not sure how they would clean them....mild acid bath worked great at my old shop for stainless.

Yes you can. We would get our race cars headers recoated after a few years or so. They'll just have to spend more time cleaning them is all. But yeah we've had headers made then ran them uncoated to make sure there was no clearance issues etc. Then we would take them off and send them out.

They have to go through a higher temp cleaning process but there's no issue if going with a reputable company. Not all coaters are nor do all of them do the inside of the pipe properly. Application thickness and consistency is critical to having it last.
