Warranty Question?

I'm thinking of getting a 1SS to run on the track and was wondering about warranty. Since these cars are essentially built to run on the track would i be covered by hard running on the track?

Also what do you guys think I would pay for extended warranty? Trying to tie it into the new car price

Everything would be covered minus the standard stuff. Breaks, tires etc.

Keep in mind if you tune the car or adjust anything from stock can void the warranty

Does adding things like headers or CAI void warranty

They shouldn't.

Headers would. CAI shouldn't.
If you get headers, you would need to tune the car to make it run properly, and you touch the tune, your warranty is gone. (I know about reversible tunes, but in most cases, it still shows, and GM will refuse to cover you under warranty.)

I would think you could add headers without a tune and still make some power and sound more importantly. Of course if you have CAI and headers the car will benefit greatly from a tune.

Will a '16 really benefit much from headers? it looks like the stock manifold design almost incorporates them.

Yes it does void the warranty, but only for the engine not the entire car

This is not true. At least not based on California law. As long as you used certified parts for your state, you should be fine.

CAI will not void the powertrain warranty. Headers are part of the exhaust which is covered under the emissions and not powertrain warranty I believe. Tunes void the powertrain.

Would an exhaust such as Borla void the warranty? I'd be interested to see gains, sound, and price as compared to NPP.

Nope. Just the warranty on what you replaced in that case, the cat back setup.

Do a little searching on Gen 5, unless things have changed, a track warranty is like

If you put headers on and I know for a fact you have to have a tune otherwise it throws a code. my 2010 2SS had Kooks long tube headers and high flow cats had to get a tune which voided the powertrain warranty. I have know idea about California, but GM does not make long tube headers, so any aftermarket headers which aren't GM approved a void. I didn't care about the powertrain warranty some people do. Its like the old saying if you want to play you got to pay.
