Every one of these is terrible to hear about, and not surprising that the widely publicized Kia and Hyundai joyride thefts are going to branch out as the thieves and joyriders learn about easy exploits for other vehicles.
Time to take those proactive measures I have been thinking about... lots of great ideas in the forums for individualized, multi-layered security measures to address (1) no you won't take my Camaro and (2) if you do take it, I will be able to find it, even though I may not like what I find. My approach will have to consider the daily driver nature of my car, although fortunately "daily" is not everyday right now on account of telework opportunities at my job. Placing some orders today based on some options I have thought about, with the benefit of various ideas other forum members have shared here on Camaro6. |

Oh, I'm aware, but if they see it, it may deter them to go for an easier target... Plus it may make them think twice what other deterrents I may have installed that they can't see... (OBD lock, fake OBD port, etc)...

That IGLA device looks very nice. Anyone use it or have any idea how much they cost?

Got it today, ordered it on Amazon and had it 6 hours later... My Car spends a LOT of time in my locked garage, but when I take it out for it's occasional ride for lunch, etc, I will put this on and make sure the red part is VERY visible from the front windshield... Hopefully they will just look for a softer target... (I'm also thinking of putting a sign on the dashboard that says "The ODB-II port has been completely disabled and there are several other 'kill switches' installed"...)

Was looking at a similar design by another manufacturer that I thought looked particularly good, until I read the reviews about users who got stranded because the cheap key lock failed. Food for thought when selecting a steering wheel lock! |

A modern kill switch that retains remote start, and when set in certain ways can allow a normal start or not. But in all cases if you don't authenticate before trying to drive away, you aren't driving away with the car. My understand is that the base install is $1200 no matter what installer you go to. Depending however on options and installer it can be more than that |

As far as issues, none so far. And so far I absolutely love it. Retain all factory functions, and it has flexibility as to how it is used. Either a pin Everytime you want to drive or the use of a fob or even an app for your phone for auth. |
