FYI: the spokes are thin to save weight.

I would say they didn't. The Z/28 is a remarkable engineering accomplishment for GM. Weight reduction, Functional Aero and Road Course Performance were mission critical in the development. They addressed them all in minute detail. Many look at the Z/28 as a 5th Gen with an LS7. That is not what it is. It is a Z/28 from conception to execution.

What is the best performance car in the complete General Motors 2014 array of automobiles?

It's a tour-de-force, no question. Sounds like you had some involvement in this. Do you know if it has or is set up for tow hooks? Fire extinguisher? 5-point safety harness? It would be nice if they had a track-pack option that included all that stuff.

The LS7 must be heavy for the car to still weigh over 3,800 lbs even with all that weight reduction. That plus the extra coolers. They're definitely moving in the right direction though; this is the best-specced production, street legal Camaro ever. Even better than the ZL1 in my opinion. Gonna be REAL interesting to see what the 6th gen Camaro is like.

Doc,

Great questions. My best guesses.

I didn't notice any tow hooks. My guess is they are an issue with crash testing and pedestrian impacts.

The Recaro seats have spots for the harness, but there was no cros bar to attache shoulder straps.

The fire extinguisher falls into the same catgegory for intrusion in passenger safety.
