Swapping to 3.45 gears on supercharged L99
I've got a 2013 SS with an SLP TVS2300, still using the pulley that came with it. It's a daily driver and occasionally gets to the track (1-2 times per year).
I'm very happy with the way it drives, but have appetite for a bit more kick right off the line. Was wondering whether switching to 3.45 gears would do the trick? Have read higher than that (was also looking at the GM 3.91s) on an FI L99 is too much gear. Also open to any other suggestions of next mods to add instead. Not really looking to add much more rwhp at this point (can maybe push another ~40-50 without having to do many other modifications I think). Though trying to keep mods to those approved in California (so no cats, LTs, cams, etc) Thanks for any suggestions!

You are only looking at something like a 5% torque advantage going from 3.27s-3.45s. You will get a lot more out of a torque converter. Or better yet, do both!

I had 3.91 and changed to 3.45 but if I had my original 3.27s, I would keep them.
With the 3.45s, 1st and 2nd spin city at my RWHP... What RWHP are you? I agree, not a big enough change from 3.27 to warrant the cost. Now a posi mod.... ;o) -Don

Mr. Nasty, I'm assuming you're an M6?
That would makes sense on the manual using 3.91, autos are a different story, 3.91s are crazy in an auto ;o)... -Don

AUTO with the 4l80 been running the 3.91 For 3 years with it. If they made 4.11 that would not come apart I would run them.
I have friends in the 500rwhp with the 6l and running 3.91 rear gear

Thanks for the tips everyone! Sounds like going to 3.45 isn't worth that much, but then again, wouldn't a 5% boost in torque be noticeable? With over 400 lb ft, that would be equivalent of adding +20 lb ft. Not a noticeable bump?
Also sounds like 3.91 on stock L99 transmission would be too much. hammdo - would you mind elaborating on the posi mod? Sorry, still new to a lot of this. Thanks!

We developed the posi mod back in 2010 when we went to the first Camaro 5 event and noticed many of the cars doing 1 tire burnouts. Upon inspection we found that GM put together a wimpy posi clutch combo. JRE posi mod comes with new clutches, preload spring and instructions to give you a tough posi that won't do 1 tire burnouts. http://www.jreperformanceparts.com/2...-posi-mod.html During this process we also developed our Billet cap kit because we found that the factory main caps stretch out and cause gear failure or noise. http://www.jreperformanceparts.com/jre-billet-caps.html We offer fully rebuilt and upgraded exchange Differentials built to your needs http://www.jreperformanceparts.com/2...des-labor.html Ted.

A converter will make a big difference out of the hole for you. That's what I would do over the gears or do both.

Agree on the converter, but do your research on stall speed ect. On my 02 a4 z28 with a converter I dropped .5 seconds off my quarter mile time and it just made the car more fun
