This is kind of why I wish cars were in valet mode until bought

Chevy gives a break in procedure for these cars but it becomes pretty pointless if you can't guarantee your car wasnt test driven like this by several people before you bought it. It'd be nice if they had a way to lock the car out of full performance until it's bought so the owner can make that decision to break it in right or not

This may be the dumbest idea I have ever heard of on this site. "Here buy this $50,000 performance car even though you can't actually drive it".

I have seen sales guys and sales managers to be the worst abusers at the dealerships.

It doesn't have to be a super restrictive mode, just enough so people on test drives don't violate the break in procedure. The break in procedure is there for a reason right? Otherwise what's the point of them wasting ink and paper? It's not fair to someone later who buys the car thinking they're following the procedure when in fact the car was raced many times before them

I'm not getting into this break in procedure BS again, but you're right people shouldn't be racing these cars that early on. It should be up to the dealership to control that.

I agree with you. Regardless of who's right or wrong about whatever break procedure, it's BS to pay full price for a new car that's been thrashed to hell and back by some moron the dealership let take it for a spin.

My 1LE had 2 miles on it. Redlined and topped out the car first day. Not a single issue 32,000 miles later no excess oil consumption etc...

You can do that AFTER you follow the break in procedure.
Every time I read something from you that says it's ok to rip it the day you buy it I'm going to follow you with the fact that it is NOT ok, so those who aren't sure don't take your advice.

You want me to stop? You need to stop.

For everyone else, please follow the owners manual for proper break in.

The most important aspect of those videos... Those guys are TOOLS. What me imaginary race people who aren't racing me. Watch me drive like a jerk. And when they get arrested... Watch them cry like a child. Douchebags.

Let me start by saying that i am following the engine break-in procedure. But people this engines are not made of plastic, you can rev or race like in the video a couple of times and everything is going to be fine, now if you do this for the first 1500 miles in a racetrack then is a different story!

Yep...mine was the first SS the dealership got in. 12 miles on it and I'm pretty sure most of them were salesman driving it like this. I spent years in retail, so I know when people are lying. Unfortunately I didn't find out it was the first SS they got in until after the fact.

Fortunately I have 5 spots where they didn't get any or not enough base coat paint on the car, so now the fight begins for a replacement car!

Simple. Order your car instead of buying off the lot. If not, then all you can do is follow break in procedures and let the warranty handle the rest.
