Is it still a E92a? Hp tuners can’t read my ecm just had it tuned. Did he lock it? Ugh

No reason for anyone to lock the tune on these cars. They’re not doing anything special. Or they’re hiding their lack of knowledge (not saying that is definitely what is going on here). Guess you’ll have to call them and ask.

Have you downloaded the latest Beta on your Mpvi2 or 3? If so you need to have internet available to do anything in editor after the downloads. If so, did you go to the verification code to show your license, then resync your Editor to read or make changes to the tune. You have to be plugged into your Mpvi2 or 3 dongle to do anything with the new downloads.

yes I did everything that you stated and I’m familiar with the hp tuners interface. Turns out my tuner locks the ecm when they tune the car, had them unlock it when I returned to them to have the codes disabled for my long tubes. They told me something like if they allowed me to read the ecm it would erase their tune…..never heard of that but I just said “okay” and unlock my ecm cause it’s mine (don’t think I’ll be returning to them) tune is great car runs amazing but overall customer service and how I felt I was treated as a customer was 3 outta 5 stars.

I see you are in Maryland.. do you mind telling who the Tuner/Speed Shop was that did your tune? Was it local in Maryland?

The fault doesn’t fall on my tuner, he doesn’t work for them directly just comes and tunes cars for them. He is 100% transparent with me and was honest with me it’s the shop that was bogus and has no clue what they were talking about.
Kinetic autoworks LLC located in glen burnie/millersville

The reason I say my tuner himself is not at fault is because when I contacted him directly he straight up told me that kinetic autoworks did not tell him to do certain things that I requested as a customer, once I spoke to him directly and went in to get things fixed he did everything I asked for (speed limiter removed, disabled codes) the shop manager was trying to swear to me that the codes did not need to be disabled to pass emissions even told me that on his personal car (Honda civic type r) he just resets his cel whenever he has a code and it goes away for a while. Complete bogus garbage. Whatever it’s all said and done with now. I’ll either be going directly to the tuner next time for a e tune (car has already been dyno tuned multiple times) or I’ll be headed to Delaware to see Fran at RPM

It sounds like you worked it all out!

Luckily for me here in VA, the two owners of the speed shop I deal with that one of the owners is the tuner, and the other is the lead mechanic. I always talk to them both in person to avoid confusion and my expectations. Also, I provide them a paper copy of what I am looking to get done, so we can track it in writing.
